Hi I'm Anna

I'm a Mormon. I was baptized in Kinshasa, Zaire (which is now the DRC), I am a mom of four and I am a high school ESL teacher.

About Me

I am a busy mom and enjoy spending time with my family. It seems we are always on the go...soccer, horse back riding lessons, trips to the pool and library, Scouts, youth activities, etc. It is nice each Sunday to slow down and attend church. I love to see the youth in our ward and feel of their strength. We have a great ward and it is nice to feel the Spirit as I listen to the talks and testimonies of our ward members. My parents were both converted to the gospel after they were married. I was fortunate to move around the world with my family. When I was younger I lived in The Hague, Holland; Kinshasa, Zaire; Pretoria, South Africa; and Jeddah, South Africa. It was great to see the church around the world and see that we are all brothers and sisters. It is exciting to see the church growing and others who are seeking the truth.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that as we come to know and follow Jesus Christ we will be happier and we will be blessed. I try to be like my Saviour and hope I can be worthy to live with Him again some day. I am thankful for a prophet on the earth and love that we have the same organization in our church that existed in the primitive church. The followers of the Saviour in his time were called Saints and we are saints in the latter days. I am thankful for the scriptures and know that as we read them we will draw closer to our Saviour and Father in Heaven. It is tough sometimes for me to find time to study them but we try each night to have a spiritual message with our children. It is a big responsibility my husband and I have to teach our children and we hope they will make good choices with the agency they have been given. So far they are doing pretty well.

How I live my faith

Everyone in our church has a responsibility to the congregation. I was serving in the nursery with the little ones and really enjoyed that. I now am the secretary in the women's organization. It was a hard adjustment but I am enjoying fellowshipping with the sisters and learning about the scriptures. I teach English Language Learners in a high school near my home. I hear lots of profanity and students that are sometimes rude and disrespectful. I know how important it is to be kind and I try to always be kind. Sometimes it is hard to control my thoughts when I think something unkind of someone but I am working on it. I am thankful for the great youth leaders in our congregation. It is so nice that my kids have teachers and leaders to reiterate the things we try to teach them at home. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I feel like the ward is my village. My teenagers have a daily early morning scripture study class. They also have weekly classes on Tuesday evenings where they learn the gospel and have fun.
