Hi I'm Twyla

I'm a singer, I'm an actor, I live for music & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Twyla and I am a goofy, spontaneous, artsy Canadian who loves to make everyday a new adventure! I am currently beginning my Sophomore year at BYU-Provo studying MDT (Music, Dance, Theatre). I have lived in Canada my entire life but am loving all the adventures I have been experiencing here at BYU. One thing you need to know about me is I am ALWAYS on the go. My life has been a constant roller coaster because I have so many things I want to do! Life is too short to let a single moment pass you by. I absolutely love to perform. I love to sing, play guitar, write music, listen to music, dance and act. Musical Theatre is my greatest passion and I dream of being on Broadway someday. I also love to be active and I can't get enough of the beautiful outdoors! I was a competitive downhill ski racer for 6 years, I've played soccer my entire life and basically any sport you can think of, I love. I like to spend time with my friends and family, go on long camping trips, go cliff jumping and cook yummy meals. I look at life as an opportunity to learn so many amazing things; I don't want to miss out on anything :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this gospel, and the way it shapes my life, is the reason I am truly happy. I get to wake up each morning knowing that Heavenly Father is there for me every step of the way, through the good times and the bad. Through the most difficult times, I know he is always there with his arms outstretched, waiting for me to turn to him for guidance. Throughout my childhood I had relied on the beliefs of my parents and I thought this was my testimony. But as I grew older, through my trials and experiences I was able to develop my own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and truly understand it. I know that this life isn't just given to us by chance, we are here so that we may return back to our Heavenly Father. I know that God sent his son Jesus Christ to this earth to be sacrificed for all the sins of the world so that we may live with him again. He paid the price so that we can repent and become clean again. I know that when we die, it is not the end. Because of this gospel of truth, I know that when this life ends, if I have done everything I could to become like Christ and keep his commandments, that I will see him and Heavenly Father again. I believe that families can be together forever. I know this with all of my heart and I am truly happy because I know these things to be true. Because I am a Mormon, I have hope and I strive to live each day to the fullest no matter what the circumstances :)

How I live my faith

I live my faith through the choices I make everyday. I choose to be different and to strive to be more Christlike. I choose to follow God's commandments and to attend church every week to become closer to my Father in heaven. I choose to have a smile on my face everyday and to keep a positive attitude. I choose to reach out to others and to be an 'example of the believers'. I do not choose to live my faith one day and forget about it the next. I am constantly trying to strengthen my testimony and my relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by living their gospel each and every day.

What is being a Mormon like?

Twyla
Being a Mormon can sometimes be hard but it is wonderful and worth it if you put your faith in Christ and do your very best to live the gospel standards. Attending church each Sunday, paying tithing, saying daily prayers, keeping the commandments, avoiding the temptations of the world etc. can sometimes seem like a lot of responsibilities to handle but because of my faith I know that they are a crucial part of our life here on earth. Being a Mormon was sometimes challenging growing up as a teenager because I constantly witnessed people I loved who didn't share the same values as mine participating in corrupting activities. But because of my faith, I had the courage to reach out to them and help them through their struggles. I love being a Mormon for so many reasons... but my favorite is how we are taught to serve others as Christ did. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the most wonderful and important part of my life. Show more Show less
