Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A few distinguishing things about me; - I believe the LDS church is the only organization on earth that has the true priesthood authority to act in gods name here on earth, as well as all of gods truths. - I believe in God, the eternal father, and in His son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. - I am a single 28 year old Mormon - I am studying to become a physical therapist - I want to be married in the temple and to establish my family on gospel principles - My favorite things to do are; play football, basketball, ultimate frisbee, hiking, trail running, mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, and competing as a triathlete in ironman races. - The times I have found the greatest joy in my life have been; when helping someone else in need, when I have been able to strengthen and encourage others in their trials, when I have seen others accept the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I find much joy when I am able to be outside running around and playing my heart out!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i believe that the principles of the LDS church are true. I have received an answer to many prayers confirming to me through the Holy Ghost that it is true. So very many times i have prayed so hard to receive a witness, i have felt an overwhelming feeling come over me. It was so real and so strong that i could not doubt that the church was true. Because of many similar spiritual experiences throughout my life i know that the church is true. I have no question about it. I continue to follow the gospel principles because i know that i will be safe as i do so and because i know that it will bring me great happiness. I know that there is one God who loves each of us. I know that he cares about us and wants to help us in our individual lives. As i experience life's trials i have always been able to find understanding, direction and peace as i have approached Heavenly Father through prayer. I know that he has a plan for me personally and that he loves me and wants me to be happy. I know that he wants to bless me. The thing that is most important of all to me is that i know Jesus Christ died for me. What a blessing that has been for me. I know that my past sins can be forgiven only because of Him. Because of that i have been able to feel clean and to have peace. This is the single most important thing to me.

How I live my faith

I do a couple very simple things to live what I believe; - I try to honor the callings I am asked to fulfill in my church ward. - I try to go visit people I'm assigned to home teach, once a month or more. (These are ordinary people who have their own life challenges. As i have visited them i feel i have blessed their lives. I have been able to help when they were sick or when they had terrible trials. I love to visit them and encourage them. I have been close to all those i have home taught and it has blessed my life in return.) - I try to be a good person and a good neighbor by being accepting of others and by loving others no matter who they are. - I try to look for opportunities to serve in my community. - I served an LDS mission in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have developed an overwhelming love for the Brazilian people. Serving them has enriched my life more than i can say. - I am no super human, extraordinary person! I am just like anyone else. I am not at all perfect, I feel so very far from that. I have many weaknesses and mistakes but I will never give up in trying to follow the Savior, Jesus Christ, because that is where I find the greatest peace, joy and stability in my life. Also because I love Him and I know He is real. - Lastly, because I believe in Jesus Christ and that He died for all man kinds sins, I strive to repent of my sins and to overcome my weaknesses and then I try to forget them and move forward with faith.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Ryan
We believe that the organization of the church that Christ had established on the earth was lost after he died. All of the apostles died eventually too and so the Priesthood authority was gone. Because of this there was a need for a restoration of Christ's church and of the Priesthood. Thanks to a prayer of a young man, Joseph Smith, God was able to organize his church once again. This Priesthood is the power of god given to man to act in his name. With it we can perform sacred ordinances such as baptism. Show more Show less
