Hi I'm Gilbert

I was born and raised in Calgary Alberta, Canada. I love music, I am a competitive yoyo player, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was homeschooled all the way until Grade 12, both traditionally and online. I plan to study economics in university. I play the cello, piano, and alto sax, and enjoy music of all genres, though recently I have a special interest in electronic music. Something with a good beat. I have been a serious yoyo player since the age of 14 and compete when I can. In 2011, I placed 12th in the national championships.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but as a teenager I really wanted to know for myself that what I was doing was right, not just following in blind faith. Through much study of the Book of Mormon, prayer, and the experience of following God's commandments, I grew to know that this church is true. I have found through personal experience that living up to the standards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is how my life can be the happiest, and how I can find true success in my endeavours. I continue to study the gospel daily so that I will be properly prepared to witness of Christ to those I meet. The Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the words of living prophets are a huge source of strength to me every day. Prayer is also a key part of my life. As I do these things consistently, I feel God's influence in my life, and every day I grow stronger in my testimony that He truly loves us and has restored His church again on the earth.

How I live my faith

I am living my faith by serving a mission in Romania. I will be serving here for two years, teaching others about our faith, and testifying of Christ and His restored gospel. All my efforts as a missionary are directed towards serving others and serving God. Every day as a missionary, I talk to people. I am learning Romanian so that I can truly communicate with the people here, but the work is so worth it. People are amazing, and I learn so much from them. I try to be a friend, to find ways to help people, and to share the joy that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ brings to me. Every person is so different, and by myself I cannot understand how to help them best, but I know that God knows each of them personally and can help me serve them how He wants me to.
