Hi I'm Stephen

I'm a chill kid who loves the beach, playing sports and hanging out with friends. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fun and laid-back kid who is always down to do something fun. If i'm not working i'm usually always with friends or at home trying to plan something to do with friends. My number one favorite thing to do is go to the beach. I love that i'm only an hour away from the beach and can go on a last minute road trip there or plan an awesome trip with my friends. i love playing sports; both competitively and just for fun. In high school I played volleyball, soccer and ran cross country. My favorite sport would definitely be volleyball. That's probably the biggest thing I miss about high school, is being able to competitively play volleyball against other schools. I've played soccer basically since i could walk and have always loved to kick the ball around with friends or even play indoor soccer so we can just mess around. Cross country for me was mostly just a way to stay in shape but it ended up actually being really fun and i met alot of good people. So i was going to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, i was studying Industrial Engineering. I went for a year and a quarter but am home now just working and preparing to serve a mission. I have applied to BYU and am hoping to get accepted into their Accounting program because i am currently trying to change my major and BYU will hold my acceptance until i get back from my mission. So yeah... i'm a pretty average kid. I honestly hate sitting at home and not doing anything so i'm almost always trying to find something fun to do!

Why I am a Mormon

My religious story and background is actually kind of funny. I was born a Mormon; both my parents were Mormon so i was raised in the church. Although I was born into the church i never really felt like i was "Mormon," and i had to always convince my friends that i was Mormon because they never believed me. And it wasn't that i was being left out by any of the members or anything... it was because i just never really wanted to live my life accordingly. So i can truly say that i was converted to this gospel even though i had it around me all my life. My conversion began in the summer of 2011. I had gone about a year and a half without going to church and completely removing myself from any church activities or events. But something just didn't feel right and i finally gave in to my gut that summer and decided to start going back to church. Once i went back i started feeling really good. Going to church just felt right. I made the decision that i would start reading the Book of Mormon. Now at this point i was 19 and still had never read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. So i made the decision that i would read the scriptures and pray about it. Pray to receive an answer if this gospel was true. So i began reading every night, and at this point i was back at school in SLO. So i started going to church in SLO and met some really awesome people. And for the first time in my life i started thinking about serving a mission. So i prayed about whether or not a mission would be right for me. At this time General Conference came around and i listened to the general authorities speak. And after that weekend i knew... i knew i have to and want to serve an honorable full time mission. So why am i a Mormon? I am a Mormon because i prayed about this gospel and i know a hundred percent that this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith restored Christ's gospel again on this earth. I know that living the teaching of the scriptures bring blessings into my life.

How I live my faith

I live my life by following the example set for me by the general authorities. I try my very best to live by the standards that the prophet has set for us, that the scriptures has set for us. I have faith that living according to how God has asked us to live will bring ETERNAL blessings. I try my best to read my scriptures everyday and attend church every Sunday. I do my best to make sure that i am living my life accordingly so that i can have the GIFT of the Holy Ghost present with me always to guide and direct me. Boyd K. Packer has said. "Being a member of the church isn't easy, and it's not supposed to be." I take directions like these and i understand that if i do God's will then i will be blessed. So i pay my full tithing (10% of my income), i try and visit other members of the church, and look for service opportunities. That's the awesome thing about this church... there is so much room and so much of a push to do good. Just the other weekend i got to participate with hundreds of other members in a huge service project where we cleaned up a local resource center. As i have tried to become more Christ-like i am found such happiness that i have never felt before. Alot of my non-member friends always ask how i can handle so many "rules" and not do alot of the things that they feel brings them happiness. And it's because i understand that if i follow the directions from the prophets and the scriptures then i will achieve eternal happiness that will last much longer than what i could achieve in this temporary state here on Earth. None of us are perfect, but it's the effort to become perfect that sets us apart.
