Hi I'm Katie

I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I am a high school History teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Katie and I grew up in South Carolina. I love sports, both to play and to watch. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my family and friends. I graduated from BYU in 2011 and I moved back home to South Carolina to teach high school history. I love working with my students and getting to know them. I met my wonderful husband after moving home and we were married in June 2013. I love my life and I am so blessed to have the gospel and all of my incredible family and friends to share it with.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the gospel. I was born a member of the church and I have always known it to be true. I never had a big a-ha moment when I knew the church was true, but it's been the small things in my life that have shown me that the Lord knows me and that this is where I am supposed to be. It has been these moments that have shaped my testimony of the gospel and helped me to know that this is the true church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example. I teach high school in an area where many of the students have never heard of a Mormon. As they get to know me, they learn things about me that may seem very different from what they see as normal. Many are convinced that there is no way a person could avoid many of the temptations they face (smoking, drinking, etc.) I want my students to know that they can make the right choices despite constant temptation.
