Hi I'm Daniel

I'm a Convert, an Auxiliary Nurse, I've been called to serve as a missionary in the Scotland and Ireland Mission and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hey! My name is Daniel Gooding, I'm 20 years old and I am a Mormon!! I was baptised on the 12th December 2010 and although it sounds like a cliche, getting baptised was the best decision I've ever made. I love helping people and I’m lucky that my job, as a nursing auxiliary, allows me to do that. My job role allows me to administer to others and helps me to try and develop Christ-like attributes. After my mission, I am planning on going on to train as a register nurse. I hope my life will be one of service to others. "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17) My gained a faith in God when I was young. I think I got it from my Grandparents as when I was with them we went to some different churches, but it just laid pretty dormant while I was growing up. When I reached college, I had a close friend who is Christian, so I went to church with her and it was fun but it just didn’t feel so right. Then one day, I got invited along to the Latter-day Saint church in Doncaster, which was where I was later baptised. I felt safe there, at home. There was something in this church I had never felt before and I liked it! I'm a Young Single Adult Representative, Sunday school teacher, A ward missionary and I am the First Councillor in the Elders Quorum Presidency for the Newton Abbot Ward of the Plymouth Stake, England. I love the gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

If you have faith in God and Jesus Christ then remember that Jesus died for us, life won’t always be easy and at times we will want to struggle and give up, look at Joseph Smiths life. He never gave up and that’s because he had faith and at times science cannot explain things, in fact the only way to justify it is through faith. We all have attributes of God and Jesus within us and by having this faith, we are able to with stand and find a way through our troubles. Look at the character that is brought to life through trials which have been endure, the bad things we go through to get the better things, not just good but the better things and sometimes having hope and faith that God will come through for you is all you can do. I know this may seem like just words on a screen but I am lucky enough to be able to feel the spirit of God within me and I know this church and these words which I’m saying to you now, are true. Alone, without God you're, well, alone. When you’re with God and you follow Christ, then you have the holy Ghost's influence with you but with faith in God you will never be alone, even in your darkest and most hopeless hour he will always be there. Our Heavenly Father wants the best for us, but to get there we have to face the trials and tests that stand in the way because otherwise how would we be worth to stand at that great day. I know these things are true and that God, Christ and The Holy Ghost are all here, Around Us, Watching Us, With Us,

How I live my faith

I am a pioneer; which by definition, a pioneer ‘is one that goes before’. I am the only member in my family and it can be hard, but I know my father in Heaven loves me, I know I can ask for strength against temptation and when I need direction. I love my scriptures and praying. When I'm living the Gospel I feel so happy and I enjoy doing it. Being a convert and having to find out for myself if the Gospel is true gives me great strength. My faith is the one thing that I can count on. I have it with me at all times. In the scripture we read that the 'Witness comes after the trial.' This scripture has really help me to live my faith as I find myself not asking 'Why does this happen?' in difficult situations as I know that after the bad situation has passed, I'll be stronger. As a care assistant, I deal with death in my job, but because of my faith, I know what is after this life. I know where they are going and I know they will see their loved ones again. By living my faith, in which lie my strengths, I am able to be that person I want to be. I love the gospel and I love my Saviour. I enjoy talking about it to anyone who will listen. I try to see miracles every day because I know that they are there! I also enjoy making people smile, so therefore I try and make at least one person smile a day, regardless of whether I know them or not! These things are how I live my faith!

What is faith?

For me, Faith is not having a perfect knowledge in something. It is hoping for things which you cannot see yet you believe they are true. Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on your belief in Him. It is a principle of action and power. The book of Mormon prophet, Alma, compared faith to a seed. He says if you plant a seed and nourish it, if it is a good seed it will grow and bear fruit. Its the same with faith. If you are obedient to Gods commandments and study his word and have a desire to believe in Christ then faith will grow inside of you. Even if the amount of faith is equal to that as a mustard seed. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is just that. Another witness of Christ and that he is the son of God. It contains the writings of ancient prophets that originally came from Jerusalem. It all started with one man named Lehi whom God commanded to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. After Lehi died his son Nephi was called as a prophet. This is because God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. These prophets knew about Heavenly Father’s plan for His children and of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. The Book of Mormon doesn't replace the bible, it supports and verifies the Bible, it goes hand in hand with it to testify of Jesus Christ. Together they create the full and everlasting gospel of Christ. At the end of the Book of Mormon, there is a great and bold promise that tells the reader that if you ask God, in the name of Christ, if the things you read in that book is true, that the truth will be manifest to you through the power of the Holy Ghost. I have done this and so I can promise you if you pray about it you'll get an answer! Show more Show less
