Hi I'm Nicole Herzog

I'm an aunt of many, a musician, a history nerd and most of all, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in the church in Utah. I'm the youngest of 6 and so have had the opportunity to have nieces and nephews since i was 4 and it has been the best thing in my life and i love them all. My family is very musically oriented and so I've had the opportunity to do piano and violin since i was young. My senior year, though i'm not a strong singer, I had the experience of being in my high school chamber choir which has changed my life. Now I am enjoying the new experience of being a college student! I love camping and the outdoors and could spend my whole life outside. I love history and english and am hoping to become a history teacher if being a mother doesn't work out at first. And..that's basically me in a nutshell!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member because it gives me complete peace and happiness. I've grown up, in the church, in Utah which, as some people may not realize, is quite difficult in it's own way. Because so many people are member and it's just the normal thing, it's so easy to take it for granted and forget about it. It doesn't take any extra effort here to be mormon and therefore a lot of people, especially my age, don't give it that extra effort. I've struggled with this as well. But the times when i make sure and live up to all my standards and be an example and do what i should, i find myself much happier and overcome with peace. Life goes smoother. As i think about mormons, especially with our knowledge of The Plan of Salvation, i can't help but be able to see my whole life from the big picture. It makes the happiness and pains make so much more sense and how everything works together. It changes my life and i can't imagine going through life without it along with many other revelations of the church. It all just makes sense.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living up to my standards. In Utah where it's easy to lower your standards and still be "mormon" it is really respectable to stand up and be the example. I'm not always perfect at it and i've had many small and large slip ups. But i know ultimately that being an example to others not only so they will be better but so i will be better. I feel like at this time in my life this is the biggest thing i can do. but i'm striving to find other ways like just talking more to those around me about our church and being able to better infulence those around me because more than anything, i want others to feel the happiness i have in the Gospel.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Nicole Herzog
Because we have our own sacred duties. We have the sacred duties of motherhood and nurturing and raising children. And that duty works alongside men and their priesthood. Both are high duties in the sight of God. Show more Show less
