Hi I'm Chris

I was born in Alabama and raised in Utah. I love playing guitar and anything outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. My family loves to go camping, dirt bike riding, fishing, and just about anything else outdoors. I love snowboarding, thats probably one of my favorite things to do. I play guitar, not very good though, love jeeps and off roading, and I love trying new things. I went to Highland High School and then to Salt Lake Community College. Just taking my generals, no major yet. I love college and gaining knowledge, which hasn't always been an interest of mine, especially in high school.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to church with my parents but I didn't always have a strong testimony. I didn't like going to church when I was a teenager and I thought it was boring. I felt the influence of Jesus Christ for the first time in a long time when I was deciding whether or not I wanted to serve a two year mission for the church. I thought and prayed about it a lot when I was getting closer to 19 years old. I knew the best thing to do was to read and pray about the Book of Mormon, so I started in at the beginning and read it through in a few months. As I read the Book of Mormon, I began to see the influence it was having in my life and the happiness I was starting to feel. I had been looking for that happiness for a long time in other things and I finally realized the only true happiness comes from Jesus Christ and his Gospel, which I learned about through reading the Book of Mormon. As I finished the book and prayed to know if it was true and inspired by God, I immediately remembered the influence this book had had on my life since I started seriously reading it and applying the principles inside. My answer was very strong and powerful and I knew that it was true. I can testify that anyone who reads and prays about the Book of Mormon with an open heart will gain a witness of it's truthfulness by the power of the Holy Ghost. My life has been changed forever since then and my testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ grows everyday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying everyday to live my life in emulation of Jesus Christ. I know I am not perfect and I make mistakes as we all do, but as I put my trust in the Lord and rely on him, I know he will and does make up the difference for those weaknesses and I know that all things are possible though him. I am currently serving a full-time mission for the church, trying to share what I have found and my testimony with everyone that I can. It has been the most rewarding experience of my life and I have seen people find Jesus Christ and change their lives for the better first hand. As a church, we also do as much community service as we can and try to help our neighbors and communities. We have an event called Mormon Helping Hands where church members in different locations throughout the world do community service together. I have had the opportunity to be a part of several of these in different places in California doing weed cleaning in a park and landscaping for a school. All of these experiences have helped me see other people in a different light. I believe we are all sons and daughters of God and that he loves us all and we are all precious in his sight.

Are Mormons Christians?

A question we are often asked is, "are Mormons Christians?" This can be a misunderstanding because of our belief that the Godhead consists of three individual personages, but one in purpose. Also that we believe in modern day revelation, meaning we have a modern-day prophet on the earth leading and guiding us. People mistake or label us as non-Christians because they define traditional Christianity differently. I believe that my Savior Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethsemene, was crusified in the cross of Calvary, and rose on that Sunday morning, so that we too may be raised up and have eternal life through his name. I have come to know the Savior in a very close way through reading and pondering the Bible and the Book of Mormon together. I am a Christian. Show more Show less
