Hi I'm Devin

I love music, swimming, snowboarding and being with my family. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a small town in Northern Utah. I've grown up loving the outdoors, and finding new things to do. I love all outdoor sports! Wakeboarding, snowboarding, snowmobiling, hiking and off-roading. I play a little bit of guitar, and love looking for new music to listen to. I'm planning on going to college and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Since I was a kid, I've loved working with my hands on projects. One of the greatest feelings I know, is to think of an idea, and then watch that idea develop into something that you created.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, by loving parents who were great examples for me, but I wasn't born with a testimony. Growing up, I questioned my faith almost constantly. I struggled to find footing in the church, and in the Gospel. During my high school years, I felt like my faith had failed me altogether. I questioned whether I truly felt that God lives. I realized that I needed to make a change, and so I began praying. God put a few trials in front of me to help me to realize how much I really needed to find a testimony. Through reading the scriptures and truly searching for an answer, I was blessed with the peace and comfort that I was looking for. Through it all, I've learned that I do have a Father in Heaven who loves me and my family, and that the Gospel has been restored to the Earth. I'm grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ, and I'm grateful for trials in my life, they've helped me to see what truly matters!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a missionary for the next 2 years in San Diego, California, speaking Spanish! Everyday, I have the opportunity to share my testimony with all those around me, so that they as well can find the joy that I've felt in my life. There is no greater thing on earth! I talk to people on the streets, and teach people about the truth of the Gospel, so that they can come closer to their Savior. I love my mission! If you see a couple of guys with white shirts and ties and a black name tag, walking the streets, stop us and say hi! You'll never regret it!

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Devin
We love the Bible! We're so grateful for it's teachings of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. We believe that scripture comes from God speaking to his chosen prophets on the earth, and the Bible is full of teachings from the prophets! Therefore, it truly is the word of God, as long as the translation from the original text is correct. As with all scripture, the only true evidence that it is the word of God, is prayer. To find a true testimony of the scriptures, we need to first read them, ponder their teachings, and then ask God if it is true. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Devin
Faith in God, is the hope and belief that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us, and watches over us daily. It's the knowlege that the Lord will provide for us, and that all things will be for our benefit. Sometimes it's hard to have faith in a world that is so focused on immediate results. True faith gives us confidence that the Lord WILL provide for us, even if it means we must endure for a little longer. Some struggle to keep their faith when they see tragedy, or experience trials. True faith is the knowlege that the Lord will build us through those trials, and we will become the person that He wants us to be. Faith gives us hope for a better world, both in this life, and in the life to come. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Devin
We only worship our Heavenly Father, and his son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was simply a prophet, just like the prophets that God has called in the past, such as Moses, Abraham, Noah and others! The role of a prophet has always been to act as the mouthpiece of God on the earth. Prophets have been called since the beginning to lead and guide God's children on earth, and to teach us the Gospel. God needed a prophet in our days to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and also the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth, so that we might continue to have communication with our Father in Heaven, and to know exactly what it is God desires of us.
