Hi I'm Nick

I'm a musician. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a most excellent family. I grew up in Washington. Where I enjoyed participating in tomfoolery with my friends. I enjoy most all music. Especially Classical, Rock 'n' Roll, Folk and Jazz. I also enjoy jamming with my buds and have tried to write a few original pieces.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, I went to church meetings and activities with my family. I was active in the Church because I felt good at church, I trusted my parents and I knew it was important to them. I felt the account of Joseph Smith's first vision was true since the first time I heard it, but I never prayed to ask God if it was true. When I was about 17 I realized that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ is a lifestyle, not just a Sunday event. I decided that if I was going to keep all the commandments, or "rules", I had better know that the Book of Mormon was true and that the Church was led by Jesus Christ through Prophets of God. All I had to do was what I had been taught my entire life: read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is from God and if this is His church. I knew that if it was true, I would need to follow it. I read, prayed and received an answer from God. Because of this experience and many others, I have come to feel the love of Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that they live and love us. I know that because of Jesus Christ we can become clean from sin by living His gospel and following His example. I also know that Christ suffered for more than just our sins. He suffered our pains, sorrows, sicknesses and temptations---He went through everything that each of us will go through in life. And He overcame it all. Because of Jesus Christ we can overcome all things and live with Him and our Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

Currently, I'm serving a two year full-time mission for the Church in Michigan. The coolest part of being a missionary is seeing people experience peace and joy in their lives by applying the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon so plainly testifies of the Savior and how we can apply His sacrifice to become more like Him. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that reading and applying it's teachings will bring anyone closer to Christ. So, I try to share it with everyone that I can.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Nick
We believe that baptism is essential to gain salvation. We also believe it must be done in the Lord's way and by His authority. Through baptism we are cleansed from sin through the mercy of Jesus Christ. It is a necessary step that God has given us so that we return to live with him. Without baptism performed by the priesthood authority of God, the full blessings of Christ's sacrifice are not available, which is one reason that the restoration of the priesthood authority is so important. Baptism must be done by immersion, just as Christ was baptized. The person being baptized also must be old enough to understand what is taking place and what they are promising to do.
