Hi I'm Greg

I grew up in San Antonio and served a mission in New Zealand. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn. I am constantly reading and learning new things. I am a college student and love the opportunities that I have to meet new people. I love playing or watching basketball and enjoy attending any games that I can go to. You can see me around town running, cycling, and enjoying being outside. I spent two years in New Zealand as a missionary and it was the greatest experience of my life thus far and it has lead me to become a better person. Spending my days serving the people of New Zealand showed me that none of us are alone. There are people just like us all around the world. Our lives count for something and can be used to influence others for good.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I choose to be. My choice is all that is really given to me and I try to make the best ones that are available to me. Although I was born into the Mormon faith it is something that I continue to follow according to my own faith. I do not follow blindly and continue to question the things that I am taught. I first questioned the validity of my parents faith when I was 12. I have 4 older siblings and they all seemed to follow where my parents lead. I began to have doubts about the reasons why I should attend a church that I did not fully believe in. Growing up in the church though I new that I could go to a source independent from any earthly source. If there was indeed a Church of God then it must be God to tell me. Why would I trust an telestial power when I needed to know celestial things? Why would I trust a man to tell me what to do when I needed to know from God? I began to pay more attention to the things I was taught, inside and outside the church. I analyzed and picked apart what was said to me and tried to decide if what I was being taught was right. I concluded that the only way that I would truly learn the truth was by praying and asking God for myself. I figured that if he wanted me to know then he would tell me. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints there is a formula to find out if it is indeed God's church on the earth. That formula is to read the Book of Mormon and then to pray and ask God, in the name of Jesus Christ, if it is true. This is what I set out to do. I read the book of Mormon and then I prayed... I cannot tell you what I felt that day. This indescribable feeling came and dwelt within my being. It is a feeling that I have come to recognize as the Holy Spirit and I have relied upon Him since that time. The Spirit has lead, taught, and comforted me in many instances throughout my life. It taught me that day that I had indeed found the Church of God on the earth. It taught me that we are not alone.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving. There are endless opportunities to serve in the church, community, and within my own family. While my situation or circumstances may change, the need for service never will. Neither will my desire to serve.
