Hi I'm Riley Taylor

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Riley Taylor. I am 21 years old and I just returned home from serving my mission in the Marshall Islands! I am the youngest of 5 kids (3 brothers, 1 sister) and I love my family more than anything. My dad is named Steve and my stepmom is named Debbie. My mother, Sue, passed away right before my mission so my family and the Gospel has a very special place in my heart. Right now I'm preparing to go to Utah Valley University and plan on majoring in Psychology. I love all kinds of sports (basketball, football, rugby, etc) or just doing anything active. I'm a pretty relaxed, chill person, so I'm up for anything that's fun. I also have wonderful friends and I have a lot of respect for them! Once again, Family and the Gospel are the most important things in my life. I love this church and I'm proud to be a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I think the biggest reason why I'm a Mormon is because I can look at every event in my life and say that the church has literally made me a better person. Through trials, I was able to receive strength. Through schooling and education, I was able to receive knowledge. Through my own personal weakness', I was able to receive patience and understanding. Also, one key factor for me being a Mormon is the fact that I have a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ than I ever thought I'd have in this life. Whenever I'm keeping the commandments and attending my church services, I feel that spirit on a daily basis and most importantly, I feel that my Father in Heaven loves me and ultimately knows who I am as an individual. Being a Mormon is not easy, but being a Mormon does bring clarity to our purpose here on earth and most importantly, what our eternal potential is! I know that this is true and that my Father in Heaven is ever aware of me and my life! I wish that everyone could be a member, just so they can be able to feel the true love of God in their lives. This is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In High School, I'll admit, I wasn't living the Gospel as well as I should've. But ever since I decided to get my life in order, I could see that the daily decisions affected how well I would my life. I knew that doing the little things such as praying, reading scriptures, going to church, etc truly do build my faith and testimony. With that being said, I try to live my life exactly as God would want me to live it. Do I make mistakes still? Absolutely! But one principle of the Gospel I try to live on a daily basis is Repentance. I know I'm weak and I'm not perfect, but when I repent of my transgressions (big or small), I draw myself closer to that Spirit, and that allows me to move on and do better. I also do my best to show love for others. Whether its saying hello or just passing along a friendly smile, it demonstrates Christ-like love and makes you feel better about yourself, too. And lastly, life is rough, so one thing that has helped me is taking an eternal perspective on things and living a life of faith and trust and knowing that God will provide if we do all we can to serve Him, love Him and be there for Him. He (Heavenly Father) wants to reward us, but we need to be living the Gospel in order for Him to do that for us. For that reason, I am doing my best to live the Gospel each and every day.
