Hi I'm Sean Wise

I'm from Dallas, Texas. I love to play sports and read. I'm a Student, an Uncle, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of five boys and one girl of which I'm the second to youngest. I love to read, and I'm an avid sports player, I especially love: Rugby, Soccer, Basketball, and Football. Unfortunately I have a habit of playing when I shouldn't, but it's part of what makes me, well, me! I attend BYU-Provo and I want to go into Orthopedic surgery specializing in Sports Medicine. When I have some time, or when I need to de-stress I love to play the piano or sing. I learned to play piano for five years, and I've been singing for about three. I am the happy uncle of 10 nieces and nephews!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know I have a loving Father in Heaven. It's hard to describe accurately what living the Gospel of Jesus Christ feels like, or is like, for me, but I know that I have a greater hope in the future, and a love for my family and mankind. Even growing up in the Church, you've got to have a time of conversion, which is why I consider myself a convert of sorts. I know, though, through personal experience that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real and that it can pierce to the bottom of the darkest hole if we but let it. Turning my heart to God has been the greatest decision of my life, and knowing that I have the whole truth to go along with it, only makes it that much sweeter. In the world today we are surrounded by a society with shifting morals and a menagerie of different people. Discussions on marriage, how to raise kids, if we should get an education, and even who we even are, are common talk and are discussed by so many of the "educated" minds of the day. It makes it so much better then to have a set of standards and guidlines that God wants us to live by. I never have to ask for the "educated opinion" because I know what God wants me to be doing. For instance, I know that I want to be, and need to be, a good husband for a future spouse, because I know that family is what brings lasting happiness, in this life and the life to come. I don't have to worry about getting in trouble with drugs or alchohol, because I'm never going to go near a place that would put me in a situation to intake them. God wants us to be healthy and happy, so I'm going to follow His plan for me.

How I live my faith

Living something is always the best way to understand something. If you want to see if a health plan works, you live what the health plan teaches. If you want to know if there is a God, you live what God teaches. I live my faith everyday by being as Christlike as possible, which I always have to work better at being. Even being a missionary for the Church takes work, because I hope that when people see me on the street they recognize me as a representative of Jesus Christ. Living a faith also comes with participating in it. Along with being a missionary, I served as a secretary in every church organization I've been in. It's given me the wonderful opportunity to share my beliefs and to help others. When something is shared, it's kept. I keep my faith, by sharing that and my love with all around me in hopes that I can change even one person's day.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Sean Wise
Prophets in ancient times have always proclaimed the Gospel, or the Way, to return to live with God. In accordance with the Savior's own admonition to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations" (Matthew 28:19) Missionaries are called to help and sustain a Prophet of God by proclaiming that same Gospel and the wonderful good news it entails. The Restoration of the fullness of the Gospel to the Earth is a joyous event that has changed the lives of the ones called, as well as the ones who listen. They proselyte in order to, "Invite others to come unto Christ, by helping them receive the Restored Gospel through Faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, Repentance, Baptism by Immersion, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End."
