Hi I'm Preston

I love to be in the outdoors. I'm a big brother who loves his family. I'm doing my best to follow Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah. I love to spend time in God's beautiful creation, the mountains. I enjoy hunting and camping, shooting and archery. I have amazing parents who raised me in a wonderful, Christ-centered home. I am the oldest brother to four awesome siblings, two brothers and two sisters. I am currently spending some time in the Mid-west, mostly Iowa and Illinois, and have loved it here.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a Mormon. We went to church every Sunday, prayed before every meal, and had family scripture study every morning before school. We were encouraged to have person prayers and scripture study, and to develop our own relationship with God. I never doubted that there was a God. But I sometimes wondered why we went to the Mormon Church. There are a lot of good churches, why didn't we go to one of those? Of course when I was young, I went to church because my parents told me to. As I got older, I began to realize that I needed to know for myself what God wanted of me, and which church He wanted me to be part of. In our home, we were always taught that if you prayed, God would hear and answer your prayers. I knew that if I wanted to find out which church God wanted me to be part of I would need to pray about it. So I packed a day-pack full of food, water, and the Book of Mormon, and set off for where I felt I could be closest to God, the mountains. After hiking for a while and finding myself on a ridge overlooking a beautiful valley, I began to read from the Book of Mormon. I knew that if I could find out if the Book of Mormon was true, then I could know that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet, because that is how we have the Book of Mormon. If Joseph Smith was called by God to be a prophet, then the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that Jesus Christ set up when He was on the earth. And of course I would want to go the same church that He set up. A lot was resting on this book! So I read. I read and I prayed and I read some more. As I did, I knew that the Book of Mormon was true. God didn't come visit me and tell me that. But He sent His Spirit to be with me, and confirm that the book was true. I knew that the Spirit could only testify of truth, and I knew that God could not lie. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it was translated by a prophet, Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to let the Light of Christ shine through me. I try to share my testimony with all those I come in contact with. Actions speak louder than words, so I know that the way I live can influence people far greater than the words I speak. I try to help others understand that God knows and loves them. In all my actions I try to ask myself, "What would Jesus do?"

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a second witness that the Bible is true. It teaches the same thing that the Bible does. It testifies, as does the Bible, that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. The Book of Mormon is written by many ancient prophets who lived on the American Continent. The first prophet, Lehi, left Jerusalem with his family in about 600 B.C. They sailed across the ocean and landed in the "Promised Land", the America's. The record was handed down from prophet to prophet, until the last prophet, Moroni. Moroni, as directed by God, compiled and abridged all the records in about 421 A.D. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that because I have prayed about it. Anyone who sincerely studies this book, ponders it in their heart, and prays about it, can know that it is truly from God. Show more Show less
