Hi I'm Jerricha

I love being outside and living life to its fullest. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My parents are converts to the church and my family was raised in the church. I am the youngest of 6 with 13 nieces and nephews. Aside from my parents I am the only active member in my family. I am a hard worker and I do my best to take care of myself and others. I do what God asks of me or at least I try to and I try to stay positive through all my life experiences. Which hasn't always been easy to do. BUT it's through those hard and not so pleasant experiences that have made me who I am today and who I will become. I am currently serving a mission for the church. I have been out for a little over a year and it has changed my life! I’ll never be able to explain how much it has helped me but I shall try. I want to start by saying before I was blessed to go on my mission I was not in the best of places I was struggling with my knowledge of the truth the gospel. The way I found out it was true was by doing what every missionary tells people to do. Read the Book of Mormon and Pray and ask God if this is His word if it is true. I didn't get an over baring answer. I didn't get a “burning in the bosom” like so many scriptures talk about I didn't get anything like that. I just remembered this one time when I was struggling and I prayed to God and I felt His love. I thought about how I felt and feel when I read the Book of Mormon. Feelings of peace and love every time. God wants us to feel peace and love and if this is how a book makes me feel it must be the word of God.

Why I am a Mormon

Because this is the true church!!! I have been able to pray and ask Heavenly Father if this is His true church and He has answered me. He did not appear to me but I did get a lovely peaceful feeling when I asked. Sometimes it can be hard to be a Mormon and to stand up for what I believe BUT I know the Lord will help me!!! How can something this organized and this united NOT be true? There is no way that this Church will ever fall apart because it is organized how the Father wants it to be. And that is just one reason why I know it is true. Sometimes the members can be a little rough on the edges and sometimes offence can be taken but it is not the members that are perfect it is the Gospel that is! I know this church is true and I know that God has a plan for all of us it’s just up to us to choose to follow His plan or not! My advice is to PRAY ask Him YOUR Heavenly Father He WILL answer!!!

How I live my faith

Like I said I am currently a missionary and to be honest I have had my faith tried both before the mission and after. I have had moments where I didn't know if the things I was teaching were true BUT when those thoughts came to my mind I had many people to turn to for help but the number one guy I had to turn to was my Heavenly Father and He ALWAYS gave me the reassuring answer that this is the one and only true gospel of Jesus Christ! It IS what God wants all of His children to have. (His children being EVERYONE) Sometimes life gets hard if you didn't know that already. When that happens I know that I can just turn to the Lord. Sometimes I don't remember that and I need a friend to remind me to just go and pray and to ask God what it is that He wants me to do or to learn from whatever is happening in my life at that time. I am not gonna lie it can be hard to do what is right and it can be hard to accept Gods will but when we do that our life in the end it is easier. I can promise you that! I have seen that in my own life before I was a missionary and now. The Lord has placed experiences in front of me that have pushed me to my limits BUT because I am letting the Lord change me I feel that I have learned more in this last year of my life (Time on my Mission) then the previous 21 years. Along with serving a mission I also try to just do what is right and be kind to all I see and meet. I try to see the good in EVERYONE which helps me have a true Christ like love for all!

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Jerricha
Our bodies are not ours. They are a gift from God. He has blessed us with bodies so that we can be able to learn and experience life. Just like if a really good friend loaned you a DVD or a lawn mower, you wouldn't rub sandpaper across the DVD or draw all over it. You wouldn't pour water (or any other substance that would harm the lawn mower) into the gas tank of the lawn mower. Or at least I hope you wouldn't. That’s how are bodies are. They are a gift/loaned out to us from God our Heavenly Father. We need to take care of them but not partaking of the 5 things that we have been asked not to. Tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, coffee, tea. (meaning the black or green tea leaf. Herbal non-caffeinated is okay) We have also been asked to take care of our bodies in a way where we don't over eat or under eat. Eating healthy amounts of healthy food is the best way to help everyone function physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Also having body art such as tattoos is not encouraged along with lots of piercings. General for men zero piercings and for women only one piercing in each ear. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Jerricha
Of course it is true! In the Bible how many times does Jesus Christ say that he has other sheep that he needs to go and teach? Those "Other Sheep" were the people not in the middle east. They were the People in the Americas. God is a just God he would not keep His gospel (teachings) Away from His children so of course He had Jesus Christ appear to them and to teach them. Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Jerricha
If God loves ALL of us why would he not want someone to be able to return to live with Him in Heaven if they never got the chance to be baptized here on earth? It is so important that this sacred ordinance gets done and by the power of the Priesthood God has made it possible for ALL of His children to have a chance to be baptized no matter if its here during their earthly or if they have to wait till the after life. God loves us all and He will help us find a way to return. Show more Show less
