Hi I'm Olivia

I'm from Athens, Ohio. I love true stories. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 23 year old Spanish and English-speaking missionary from Athens, Ohio serving in McAllen, TX. I love music - especially jamming with other folks, playing rhythm on guitar. Before my mission, I was a vegan (then I moved to South Texas ... I don't think they exist here). People make me the happiest. I love to travel, especially road trips. Someday, I want to be a writer of beautiful things. I was baptized when I was almost 13. It was a hot day in late July, but I'd never felt more alive in my life. I was thrilled to officially be a member of the church of Jesus Christ. I knew it was the beginning to a full life. There were not many members of the LDS church in Athens, Ohio at that time, but from the time I started looking into the church with my mother, to when I was baptized, to ten years later, our small congregation has grown from meeting in a rented building, to getting our own chapel, to finally becoming a "ward" or a full size congregation. I have seen the power of true things in my own life - and in the lives of those who are just finding the truth. It's incredible.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I understand what it means to be "Mormon." To be a "Mormon," or a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, means to have a desire to actively follow Jesus Christ - to stive to be like Him. I know that coming unto Christ and developing trust in Him is the most important thing we can do in this life. In the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:24, it says "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." Through reading the scriptures, listening to the words of the prophet, and praying sincerely to my Father in Heaven, who loves all of his children, I have come to know for myself the love and power of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I know this because I have asked my Father in Heaven, sincerely wanting to know for myself. I can truly say that I know that it is because He loves us that He has provided a way for us to return to Him. Through Jesus Christ, we can become better than we are. We can find peace and joy in this life.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am living my faith by serving a full-time mission in Texas. Every day, I invite others to learn more about Jesus Christ. I teach people the steps we have been given to draw nearer to our Heavenly Father and the teachings of Christ. I testify of the things that I know. I love being a missionary because it gives me the opportunity to do what I love most - meet people. I love to learn how the faith of others has grown or how Jesus Christ has influenced their life. I love to feel quiet power of the Holy Ghost when testimony is shared or true things are learned. I have to privilege of seeing people talk about the things they care about most, the things they love, such as family. I know that love is among the most powerful testimonies we can recieve.
