Hi I'm Nick

I'm a husband, an older brother, a sport fanatic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and a husband to a wonderful woman! Family is the biggest part of my life. I am busy going to school, working, and coaching basketball. I am grateful that I keep busy and productive to keep moving forward in this crazy world. My life has had its struggles as well as many successes. I am a neat freak and love to see things clean and organized. I have graduated high school and while learning there participated in football and basketball. Now that my two year mission is complete I am working on a college graduation and a career. I am a huge sports fan, especially college sports. My favorite month is March because of march madness. I love to be around people and meet new people everyday. I can't complain about life because it's too short so I have to enjoy each moment!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Utah and as a member of The Church. I was baptized at age 8 and since then attended my church activities. I haven't always loved the gospel as much as I do today. I started off leaning on the testimony of my mother and other influential people in my life. Even though I grew up in the religion I still feel I had a conversion story as well. It was in my senior year in high school while studying about the Book of Mormon, I decided I needed to read the book for myself to believe it wholly if it was true or not. Very slowly I gained a steady feeling from the Holy Ghost that this book really did help me come closer to God and that everything my mother, friends, and role models had said was true. I then decided to serve a mission, was assigned to the California San Diego mission and was able to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ there to bring happiness to the families and individuals who could use the joy I have found. I know that true happiness comes from following Jesus Christ. I have found it out the hard way sometimes, but now better than ever Jesus Christ is my Savior and Heavenly Father really does have a plan for me to help me be happy and receive eternal life. That way is through Jesus Christ, His gospel, and His suffering for me.

How I live my faith

This is a tough question....I would hope to say that 24/7 I live it, but just as everyone else is, I am not perfect. I have been really good at reading my scriptures everyday. I also am praying to my Heavenly Father many times a day thanking him for the great blessings I have and to strengthen me through my trials. I attend church meetings every Sunday and serve the fellow members there. I try my hardest everyday to help others. I truly find joy in helping others, there is no better feeling seeing someone else uplifted and blessed. As a missionary I had the chance every day to help others whether it be teaching them the word of God, helping with yard work, or doing service projects in the community. That is the best way I have found living as a follower of Jesus Christ. With those great chances to serve comes great fun and adventures in the projects I take on with others (i.e. planting trees, pulling weeds, cleaning houses. I also try my hardest to make sure people are happy and know I am happy by smiling all the time. This life is tough at times, but it's all for learning and growing so I like to do it with a smile.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Nick
This is a question I had even myself for a long period of time. To me a testimony is when I have an experience or impression that confirms a gospel truth to me. I relied so much on my role models' testimonies and their experiences, but now I have had countless experiences accompanied by the Holy Ghost testifying to me of the truthfulness of a gospel principle. A testimony is usually short and very powerful. A testimony invites the Holy Ghost. I know testimonies carry us through the trials that we go through. My testimony has kept me going through the high points and the low. My testimony is of Jesus Christ, His gospel, and His suffering and resurrection for me. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Nick
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most important event in history. It is essential and central to God's plan for us. The atonement encompasses the suffering of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, being crucified on the cross, and resurrecting the third day. Because of these things He went through for us, we have the chance to have our own burdens and sins relieved and be resurrected. It takes faith and action on our part, but is possible for every human being no matter where they're at in life. As we have faith, repent, are baptized and receive the Holy Ghost by proper authority and follow Jesus Christ the best we can throughout our lives, we can receive the blessings of the atonement. I know for me I try my hardest to reflect on what Jesus Christ has done for me. Everytime I do I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for what He has done for me. I know because he sacrificed His life, we can have the chance to become clean and return to live with our Heavenly Father and our families. Show more Show less
