Hi I'm Michael

I am from Idaho, returned missionary who served in the California Sacramento Mission, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have been a member my whole life and have loved it. I just completed a 2 year mission and hope to become a police officer soon. I enjoy music, all kinds. There are not very many songs that I don't like.

Why I am a Mormon

I have loved being a member of the church because it constantly blesses my life. There are so many things that have come to pass because I have been a member. I know that the church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he did restore the church in the latter days. I know that he did see God the Father and Jesus Christ in the grove of trees in 1820. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is an account of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of America. There have been times that I have questioned the church, but through reading the Book of Mormon and Prayer I know without a doubt that this is God's church once again established on the earth and that He is at the head of this church. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is full and true in the Church of Jesus Christ if Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I just completed a mission for the church and I try to continue to help people come to know of the truthfulness of the gospel and that nothing will bless their lives as much as the gospel. This is true and I know it. I enjoy doing service for all that I see and I also try to help others feel of God's love for them. I do the best I can to be an example to all that I meet

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Michael
No. Mormons are not required to serve missions. We are asked to give 18 months to 2 years if we so desire. Missionaries do not get paid for their service. Members serve missions because they want to share the love of the Savior Jesus Christ and help others come closer with their Savior. We are all brothers and sisters and because we believe that we find it a privilege to go out and help others find the same happiness and joy that we have in the church. The best way for us to do that is to serve missions and teach others of the restored gospel. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Michael
As taught by Christ, you must "be born of Water and of the Spirit" to enter the kingdom of God. (John 3:5) We believe that the priesthood, or authority of God given to men to act in his name, was taken from the earth at the death of Jesus Christ and his apostles. We also believe that through Joseph Smith That Priesthood is back on the earth and that is one of the key elements of Baptism. If an ice cream truck driver pulled you over for speeding and tried to give you a ticket, would you pay it? No because he doesn't have the authority to give you a ticket, but if a Police Officer gave you a ticked for speeding then you would pay it or go to prison because he has the authority to do that. Just like with baptisms, God has set up His way to baptize and if it is not done in His way then it is like getting a ticket from the Ice cream truck driver. Baptisms are only valid with the proper priesthood authority. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Michael
Priesthood is the Authority of God given to Men to act in his name. It is available to all Worthy Males over the age of 12. There are two priesthoods the Aaronic (or preparatory), 12-18 year olds, and Melchizedek (or Higher Priesthood) ages 18 and up. It is a way for the men of the church to serve more. The women are able to be mothers and to serve in that way so the men get to hold the priesthood to serve in that way. They work together to help build a happy home and a strong families. Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Michael
The prophet is the one person on the earth that holds all of the keys to the priesthood on the earth at a time. The prophet is the person that the Lord chooses to lead and guide his church. He is usually the senior apostle but the person that becomes the prophet is the person that God and Jesus Christ want to lead there church! They lead the church through the prophet and the prophet will not lead the church or its members in a way that is contrary to what God would want us to do. Show more Show less
