Hi I'm Troy

I'm an athlete, a musician, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I played volleyball in high school and taught myself to play guitar. Music and volleyball is my life! I went to CSN for business management for a year then left to serve a full-time mission in the Lansing Michigan Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this church. Unfortunately I did not apply the teachings much in my life. I had a lot of skepticism and doubts about everything. I had an experience when I was 17 that really showed me that God was there and that he loved me. I got sick one day and started having pains in my stomach. It was the worst pain I have ever felt. I was rushed to the hospital as the pain got worse and worse. The doctors were waiting for paperwork to process but were guessing that I had appendicitis. As I waited in agony, I cried out to God. Desperately hoping for an answer. In my mind I told God, "I can't do this anymore. Please. If I am to die, let me now. I can't go any longer." In that moment, I felt the love of my Father in Heaven. The pain that I had left, and instead I felt peace and joy. The doctors were confused and said that I did not have appendicitis because that pain never goes away until surgery is performed. Tests and paperwork were completed and I will never forget when the doctor came into the room and said "You need surgery right now, your appendix is about to burst and you will die." God not only comforted me in my trials but he also saved my life. From then on, I knew that God loved me. He has a plan for me. Through Jesus Christ's atonement, I was able to find peace and joy in my life. As I went to church, and applied what I learned. As I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I felt that same comfort and joy that I felt when the pain was taken. I know that the Gospel of Christ has been restored through a prophet because I prayed and asked God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through applying the teachings of Jesus Christ in my life. As I have done so, I have seen a change of heart inside me. I want to help others, share with them, go out of my way to do what is right. I try to be an example to others and help them come closer to God by sharing with them what helps me in my life. Currently I am living my faith as a full-time missionary. I spend all my time and efforts trying to help and serve others. Teaching about God and his plan for us is something that I love to do. I have never been happier in my life.
