Hi I'm Ivan Penaloza

I'm from California. Music is my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love making music with the band on the weekends. Taking walks on the beach are the best with the cool gentle marine breeze. Going camping for a couple of days with the guitar and friends is very enlightening. Besides those outdoor activities, i enjoy watching movies at home. Eating out with the friends and loved ones. I like to dress some what formal, and am currently serving a mission in Texas. 5 months left of my service here in Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

My story begins with a search for God. I blieved there was a God and everything above in the Heavens, but didn't quite understand how it all worked. I went through my rebelious teenage stage, and found myself in unhappy situations where nobody could help me feel better. My "happyness" only lasted for short momments, and then I realized it was due to the fact that I was focused on the things of this world. I remember thinking upon the words of Christ as he spoke to Pilate "My kingdom is not of this world", and it set me thinking. There was more for me to find, more than the world could offer me. There are stories both in the bible and the book of mormon that i relate to. The first being that of Saul on the long road to Damascus. I was expecting a sign, something extraordinary. I wanted to have God tell me personally he was there for me. In the book of mormon i see myself as Alma the younger hanging out with my friends and forgetting my Father in Heaven. I did not see an angel, but what I felt as I read of Saul's encounter with Jesus, and Alma's encounter with an angel changed me forever. i could place myself in their situation, and i knelt and prayed, and recieved my answers.

How I live my faith

I am a Full-time Missionary serving in the Texas McAllen Mission. Also known as the best mission in the world. Prior to being called a representative of Jesus Christ, I was a youth leader for the Boy Scouts of America (Eagle Scout), and taught a youth church class called seminary (which takes place around 6a.m. during school days). I was previously involved in those programs as well, and took the opportunity to accomplish them all.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Ivan Penaloza
To know something, you have to get to know it yourself. Often times people speak without knowing thus discouraging others from even trying. In this case, the Book of Mormon offers broader knowledge of who God really is, and helps us comprehend how Jesus Christ's sacrifice applies to us personally. It is filled with numerous promises from our loving Heavenly Father, which come true according to our faith and desire to act upon them. Show more Show less
