Hi I'm Forrest

I Love sports, I Love Learning, and I Love being a Mormon!

About Me

Before my mission I worked at a car dealership (Chevrolet/Hyundai) and now I am Currently serving a Mission in the Maryland Baltimore Mission! I love to do just about everything! When I return home I plan on going to College and Majoring in either Engineering, or in the Medical Field.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I'll start off that I was raised in this church, but I wasn't always converted to this church. When I was baptized at 8, my parents gave me the choice and I said that I would want to be baptized. When I was Baptized I had this amazing feeling that witnessed to me that God wanted me to do this. It wasn't until I was about 13 that I truly desired to know if this church was His church, if the Book of Mormon was really another testament of Jesus Christ, and if Joseph Smith was really a prophet. So I sat down on my bed, cracked open the Book of Mormon and began to read on my own. It wasn't quite how I expected it to be. about 3 hours later, I had this amazing feeling, a good feeling, that same feeling that I had felt when I was 8. This feeling testified to me that Joseph smith is a Prophet of God, that the Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Restored Church that Jesus himself Established while here on earth. I know that we have a prophet on the earth in these latter days, and that he does receive revelation from God to Help us draw closer to Him. I know that it is when we act with faith, that we can receive answers to our questions in God's time. (James 1:5-6)

How I live my faith

Faith is an action word, so these are some things that I do to live my faith. Reading the scriptures everyday, praying like there is no tomorrow, and for the time being serving a mission and loving it! I am able to talk about God and Jesus Christ with others and help them strengthen their faith in Them. There is nothing that I would rather be doing.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Forrest
Since God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and he has worked with prophets like Noah, Moses, Abraham and others, I don't see why we wouldn't have a prophet today to lead and guide us. And if you ask me, I'd say that we need a prophet to lead and guide us especially with today's moral decay, just like in times of old when the people fell into darkness. I know that Joseph Smith was the first prophet of our time, and I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's Chosen prophet today. I invite you to listen to his words and consider how knowing God's will can help your life. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Forrest
Church is about 3 hours long because we have our sacrament meeting for the first hour ( we sing hymns, people are assigned ahead of time to say opening and closing prayers and we partake of the sacrament. We also have a 2 or 3 speakers asked to speak ahead of time on a certain topic ( Faith, Repentance, The 10 commandments, etc.) Everyone is together for this hour). Then we have scripture study or Sunday school after that which is about an hour as well (the adults can drop off their kids 18 months and older to go have their classes where they learn about gospel stories like Noah's ark and Daniel and the lions den). and the 3rd hour is when the men and the women have their separate classes, and the children have their classes continued. It is really fun, everyone can enjoy it and Everyone is Always welcome! :) Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Forrest
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. The church is directed and led through this authority. I know that the Priesthood that existed in the original church established by Jesus Christ has been restored back on the earth. Also, male members of the church who serve with love, gentleness and kindness can: Lead congregations of the church, preform the ordinances of the church, such as baptism and they can bless those who are sick. Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Forrest
When you go to church you will see people in their "Sunday best", so white button up shirts, slacks, black shoes and a tie, or skirts and modest dresses. We celebrate Christmas, Easter, and other national holidays ( different holidays according to the culture of where you live). We celebrate Birthdays, anniversaries, and other similar events as well. What do Mormons believe about family?

Forrest
Well, if you take a look at " The Family: A Proclamation to the World" it will tell you what we believe about families. But I know that Families can be together forever through the same sealing power that Jesus Christ gave to Peter. We will be able to see our lost loved ones again! This gives me great joy and I know that it will bring you great joy as well. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Forrest
So there is a scripture at the end of The Book of Mormon that talks about it (Moroni 10:3-5) and there is also the last 2 paragraphs in the Introduction of the book. They both talk about Praying sincerely and asking with real intent. Meaning that if God tells you by the Holy Ghost it is true, that you REALLY INTEND to follow though with his answer. Also, Listening for the Holy Ghost and the feelings you get to confirm that answer is just as important as asking in the first place. Usually you feel good and uplifted. some people have discribed it as a warm feeling, and others as a feeling of just knowing. There is no set feeling that everyone feels because everyone is different. Another important part would be to prepare yourself by keeping God's commandments so that you can recgonize those feelings when they come. I Invite you to read the Book of Mormon, or part of it, and ask God if it is truely another testament of Jesus Christ. God tells us in James 1:5-6 that he will answer our prayers. I know that if you do this you will recieve an anwer for yourself just like I did when I prayed for myself. :) Show more Show less
