Hi I'm Derek

I have lived in Sandy, Utah all my life and there is never a dull moment. I'm a missionary in Baltimore, Maryland. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Derek and I am proud to say that I'm one of those crazy Mormons. I love to have fun and there is NEVER a dull moment. I've got a crazy family and love them for who they are. I have one older brother and four younger sisters. I love to stay busy too. I used to work for Deseret Book before I came out on a mission. Loved it there! I also worked with hard wood floors and tile. I've been working since I can remember. I am a huge out doors person. Camping, boating, hiking, anything to do with the water, snowboarding, fishing, four wheeling, ...ect. I also love to play basketball, one of the greatest sports ever thought about. I love people and hope I can be one of the greatest friends ever. Nothing better than a blanket and a fire with some friend and family. Nothing makes me happier than knowing who my personal Savior is and sharing that with others.

Why I am a Mormon

Its hard to just name a couple reasons why I joined the Church Of Jesus Christ but I will try. One big reason would be the love I feel from others and their open arms of love for not only me but my family and friends, members or not. The people who have really decided to make changes in their life and want to help others do the same. When I was young my father was working for a construction company called Big D. He ended up getting hurt and should have died from what happened. The whole time he was in the hospital members were right by our side. We were wild kids and hard to control. They helped comfort my Mom and even feed us. The love I felt from those faithful members is unmatched except but our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. Life is hard and no one can disagree but because of Christ's church and the kind of people He wants us to become it helps to know that I will never be alone. I will always have my brothers and sisters right beside me along with Christ. Since that time I have been to the temple and I have seen other miracles, there is no denying the fact that I know that this is the true church and that everything in it builds us to become the son or daughter that our Father in heaven want us to become. He gives each of his children gifts of the Spirit. We need every single one of those gifts. We need EVERY child of God. The church helped me see that, it helped me see that I was needed, wanted, and of worth. As children of God we are all of worth.

How I live my faith

As of right now I am a missionary for The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but that's not the way I live my faith. Faith is a gift from God. Its not just something that one day just shows up. You have to work for it. Faith is not something you gain without action. I have always been a service kind of guy. That is one of the actions I take. I love to help any way I can. That is one of the biggest ways I live my faith. All I want out of this life is to put a smile on someones face or to help them feel loved. When I die I want the chance to tell my Heavenly Father that I had great joy in cheering up one or some of his children. Everything else is just a bonus. If I can share just one thing with people it would be the love I feel from both God and His Son Jesus Christ. Charity is what brought us here and charity is what gets us back home. That's how I live my faith.
