Hi I'm Summer...

I'm a hugger. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life. I'm determined to write a book before I die. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I grew up an only child in the only liberal/artsy town in Kansas. Although Kansas is flat as a pancake, disgustingly humid, and diseased with tornadoes in the summer, I loved it there. I strongly believe everyone should have at least 10 hugs a day. Just try it. Our family motto is ''It's either going to be good or its going to make a great story.'' I hate elevators. I'm a student right now at Brigham Young University. I also teach at the missionary training center. So fun fact of the day: before the missionaries turn up at your door, they actually go to a training center. They learn how to teach our beliefs and adjust to the life of a missionary. Maybe I'm biased but they really are such great kids and they really can help you have the best relationship with God because He's called them to do it. I'm also in this really awkward point in my life, trying to figure out what to do, which direction I should go. I don't have it all together. I have hard days. We call those ''indoor plumbing and electricity days'' which is a day that is so bad and foul the only thing you can be grateful for is indoor plumbing and electricity. But even on those grim days there is snatches of joy because of the truths that God has given us to hold onto.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because well...it's the true church. Truth is rare. In a world full of alternative realities, gray areas, imagination, illusions, and opinions, I feel truth has been neglected. There is something in the soul that becomes refreshed and complete when exposed to not only truth, but the brightness of the truth of God. This church has provided me with the resources to come to know God. Before in my life-God was simply an all powerful being-mysterious and vague. Now He is Real. He is my Hope. My Rock. My Friend. My Happiness. My All. I have a close relationship with with The Supreme Creator of the Universe and His Son the Savior of us all. And I have NEVER had more joy. With the truth that I have, I wake up every morning, anxious to know what the Lord has in store for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by opening my eyes. The knowledge of knowing who I am and the purpose of this life gives me a unique perspective. We are all Children of God and we are all here to learn. When you truly know that-there is a great transformation. For example: The old man with a foul odor and fraying mismatched clothings, rummaging through the dumpster-who once may have previously made you uneasy-becomes your brother in need. The woman yelling profanities at her small children, that you normally would judge-becomes your sister that you silently offer a prayer for. All the people around you that you see Become much more than "mere mortals", much more than people you pass by- they become your family. I live by my faith by trying to view every person as a child of God with infinite potential. I live my faith by loving.
