Hi I'm Steve Abbott

I'm married to a wonderful woman, father of seven boys, retired entreprenuer. I love sports, travel, adventure and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m a happy baby boomer and a father of seven boys and seventeen grandchildren. My life has revolved around Church, family and work, and I have recently retired into what I hope to be golden years. I graduated many years ago with a master’s degree in chemical engineering but I got interested in rapidly evolving computer technology. I was the co-founder and President of a small software company that created office automation products used by thousands of small, medium and large organizations worldwide. I sold my ownership in the company and have recently joined the ranks of retired senior citizens. In my spare time, I love anything to do with sports, recreation and travel. Fortunately I’ve been married for 42 years to a wonderful woman who makes our family life fun and fulfilling. We’re currently serving as missionaries in Pennsylvania while our youngest son completes his mission in Mexico. We’re also working on our “bucket list” and have a long way to go. I did complete a goal to run a marathon several years ago and still run on a regular basis. We’re also hoping to travel to each of the continents and recently enjoyed trips to Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Costa Rica.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with members of the Mormon Church that go back many generations. My ancestors crossed the plains from Nauvoo and were among the pioneers that settled in Utah. I’m an active member of the Church because I know it teaches us how to be happy, get through and hopefully overcome life’s problems and provides a way for us to be together as an eternal family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the example of Jesus Christ. He showed us how to love and serve others, and I try to do that by helping family, friends and neighbors, and by being actively involved in the Church. My wife and I are currently serving as missionaries in the Lock Haven Branch in the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission. We have enjoyed getting to know the members of the Branch who have helped us in many ways. We’re fellowshipping and less active members and working with investigators. It’s been a humbling experience, but we’re very happy to be here.
