Hi I'm Sam Smith

I have nine siblings, one wife and three children. I started a healthcare and technology law firm and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of three unusually perceptive kids. I love to hang out with them, learn with and from them, and get beaten in Carcassonne by them. I work as a lawyer helping businesses primarily in healthcare and technology. On the side, i write articles for a large legal publisher. Plant-based foods are a big part of my daily diet. I love to cook, bake, and puree. In particularly, I love to make curries, vegetable smoothies and sourdough breads. I play the piano and compose music. i read a lot of non-fiction and biographies. It is motivating for me to read about the struggles, trials and triumphs of past leaders.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through daily scripture study, my parents helped me understand and apply the scriptures to my life. At a very young age I received a witness that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and the Book of Mormon is a book of scripture containing the words of God. After hearing my father testify that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, I developed a keen interest in knowing for myself whether this story was true. On several occasions I prayed for a spiritual confirmation that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Simple manifestations of the spirit have confirmed this fact to me personally. I am a Mormon because it is all true: the gospel, Jesus Christ's divinity, Joseph Smith's first vision, the Book of Mormon and the restored Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Plus, as an added bonus, it's nice to have the gift of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

Jesus taught that true disciples love one another. I believe what Jesus taught and so I live my faith by serving others. In my profession, I help students and underfunded businesses resolve legal problems. In my community, I volunteer for cleaning, painting and maintenance service projects. At church, I work with the youth in helping them learn to embrace the gospel and live a Christ-centered life. I visit with families in our community on a regular basis to help support them in their efforts to love and serve others.
