Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Mormon. I have been since I was 8. I went to the U of U and received my BSEE.

About Me

I am a Mormon because I am happy when I am obedient to it's precepts. I am happy when I serve in the gospel. I know that when I teach my children gospel principals, I am telling them the truth. It feels good to teach the Doctrine of the gospel. When I read the scriptures, the Bible, Book of Mormon, the Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price and including all the words of our present day Prophets, I feel the goodness of it and it's purity. It is as though I receive a renewed testimony of the scriptures as I read them. I love the gospel and the Scriptures, our Prophet and Apostles, all our leaders and I know they have truly been called of God. The Church is True!

Why I am a Mormon

I try my best to be obedient to the Gospel. I attend church each and every Sunday. It is a rare thing for me to miss for any reason. I take my family and we sit together whenever possible. When I receive a calling, I don't say no. I want to be available when the Lord needs me. I believe my leaders have been called of God to their particular positions so it is easy to accept a call issued by them to any position. I have had many callings throughout the years including positions in the Elders Quorum, High Priests Group, Bishoprics, Scouting and High Council, even in the Primary. The Primary is one of my favorite callings to have. Some callings have proven more difficult than others but I strive to do all that is asked and without having to be told everything that I should do. I try to live it through the week as well, not just on Sundays.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. I accept opportunities to help my neighbor. I help them to move in or out of the neighborhood. I visit my families assigned to me for home teaching. I get involved in the political processes and with the help of my wife, we take food to those who are struggling either financially or with medical issues. I am currently a High Councilor and have responsibility for the Stake Primary. We recently went on an 11 year old boy scout camp-out. It was very well attended and the young boys really learned a lot from other scouts and leaders. We all had a great time.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

We know that hard times will come. It doesn't matter if it is due to natural disaster or if we simply lose a job or can't work for any number of reasons. If we prepare for these inevitable problems that for so many do come, then we have less fear and we can continue to serve or live through much if not all the catastrophe. My brother suffered an accident that put him out of work. Because of that and him being prepared with food storage, he didn't have to rely upon others for that. He had enough for a couple of months of no income to survive his lack of income. It was a true blessing to him that he had prepared for that and even greater catastrophes. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

I believe that Homosexuality is a sin when acted on just like adultery is. If it is not acted on, then there are no blessings of the gospel denied that person. Only if a person acts in these ways, then temple blessings can be taken away and it doesn't matter if it is homosexuality or adultery or any other sin of this magnitude. Show more Show less
