Hi I'm Travis

I learning spanish. I'm learning to be a big boy. I love my family. I'm a Mormon. BR

About Me

I grew up in Southern California. I love the beach and the mountains and there we have both. i love to swim at the beach or in the pool. In high school i played waterpolo. i come from a family of 7. I have 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. i always wanted a little brother because my parents would get me in trouble when i picked on my little sisters. Growing up i really looked up to my older brothers, one of which was the reason i played waterpolo. They both have been great influences in my life and we've become very close because of that. Right now I'm serving a 2 year mission in the south of Texas. That decision also came because of the example of my brother and parents. i will return and study accounting at Brigham Young University in the Fall 2012 semester. I love being in Southern Texas and I love the hispanic culture. As I've been down here, I've learned spanish which i enjoy speaking and have also learned many other life long lessons such as budgeting and people skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and my parents were very active. They taught me the truth and where to find happiness, kinda like in the stories of Enos and Alma the younger from the Book of Mormon. although I didnt stray like them, i just kept following what they taught me and what i felt. I've learned through the application of teachings where to find lasting happiness and where to aviod guilt, sadness, and sorrow. I also learned for myself that faith in Christ can be found in many places but becuase God is a God of order, He expects certain things to be done in order such as the ordinances of His gospel. Since I've been out on my mission I've really had to find out for myself if what I'm doing is right because everyday, my testimony gets tried by others. i saw that others seemed as set in their religion as my parents were here so through much prayer and reflection and paying attention to the Holy Ghost, i was and am assured that this truly is God's true church once again established on earth.

How I live my faith

Right now as a missionary, i get an opportunity to live my faith 24/7. I get to bare my testimony to multiple people everyday. I get to share restored truths and help others come to that same knowledge through prayer. I try to show my testimony of Christ through my actions and my words. I try to leave everyone i talk to enlightened or happier, even when they aren't super nice to me. My dad taught me the importance of service. Especially to the old and sick. He always brought me along to help paint a widow's house or to wash her car. I know Jesus Christ taught those simple acts of kindness and when i particpate in them, i know He is pleased.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Travis
The missionaries will sit down with you. They'll invite all to join and listen. Then they will proceed to explain the importance of our Savior, Jesus Christ. They will teach you how you can follow Him even more in your life. They will invite you to make changes in your life to live in harmony with the teachings of Him. They will invite you to act on your faith by coming to church and being baptized. They will help you family in every way possible and you will never forget them. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Travis
Growing up i had many christian friends who asked me this question. I was confused because my whole life i grew up learning about Jesus Christ and what He did for us. So how could we not be Christians? But as i learned more about things they'd heard or read i realized, for some reason, people question our Christianity. I know the Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that he came to this earth and taught us how to live a happy live. i know He died on the cross and suffered for my sins. i know 3 days later, he arose from the graving, conquering death, and now is as alive as you and me. i know that only through Him will i be able to obtain eternal life with my Father in Heaven. and yes... we are Christians! :) Show more Show less
