Hi I'm Emily

I'm a twin. I'm a college student. I'm a soon-to-be missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey, I'm Emily. I LOVE life. I'm a student at Brigham Young University, and I love it there. My favorite way to spend a day is with my family. I feel so extremely blessed to have every member of my family in my life, they strengthen me and support me so much. I am one of ten children, having one big brother, an identical twin sister and seven younger sisters. My twin sister is my very best friend, and we do everything together. I love little children so much, so one of my favorite pastimes is to be with kids. They are so perfect and pure and so near to God, and are such examples to me. Some other things I really enjoy are riding horses, enjoying nature, writing in my journal, singing, being with friends, and watching Disney movies on the weekends ;). My life gets a little hectic and crazy sometimes, but it is beautiful. I love taking time to find the little things in life that amount to so much and help me feel God's love so strongly. I have been called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in San Fernando, California and I cannot wait to share full-time what I love more than anything. Knowing the gospel and having a loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ is the greatest blessing, for which I am eternally grateful. I'm Emily, and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Because I love this gospel and I know with all my heart that it's true. All of the happiness and blessings in my life come from being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As I have studied the teachings of this gospel and worked to apply them to my life, I have received answers that testify to me so surely that this church is the true church on the Earth today. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, and I feel His love so often throughout my life, which is another testament to me that He lives and He is there to hear and answer my prayers and to help me through this journey of life. The most happiness I feel is when I am living my life in accordance with the gospel and keeping the commandments. All of my questions of where I came from, why I am here and where I am going have been answered through the gospel of Jesus Christ and every day it is His grace and my hope in eternity that keeps me going, and I would be lost without this knowledge. This is not just a part of my life, it is my life. I feel so incredibly blessed to have been born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I am so proud to call myself a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith through love. In the Matthew 22:37-39, it says, "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." I feel like the best way to show God I love Him and I am so grateful to Him is to love and serve others. One of my favorite primary songs I sing to my little sisters is "I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus": "I'm trying to be like Jesus; I'm following in his ways. I'm trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say. At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice, But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers, Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought, For these are the things Jesus taught." I think loving and serving others is the best way I can show God I love Him and I am so grateful to Him. I try to be steadfast in living the gospel of Jesus Christ and have a firm integrity, with faith unshaken. I try to live my faith by being a friend to everyone at school and living the way Christ lives. I try to live the way I would live if the Savior was standing beside me, and try to make my life a reflection of the Savior's. To me, that's the best way I can show Him I love Him.
