Hi I'm Skyler

I'm from Utah, I love playing basketball and volleyball, I love singing and performing in musicals, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing sports, but especially basketball and volleyball, which is kinda funny because I'm short and usually tall people are the ones who play those sports! I love writing, and hope to some day start a career in Broadcast Journalism. I also love performing in musicals and plays. I started singing a couple years back and absolutely love the rush you get performing live in front of an audience. I am the middle child of three, and I have two older sisters. My family means the world to me. Without them, I would not be the person I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but just like every other member of this church, I had to come to know for myself that it was true. When I was 12 years old, I remember lying on my bed reading the Book of Mormon. I was reading, but also thinking of a challenge I had been given in Deacon's Quorum. We were challenged to read the Book of Mormon and then pray to know the truth. After a little bit, I knelt down at my bedside and asked my Father in Heaven if the Book of Mormon was true. The Spirit filled the room and I received an overwhelming "Yes!" Since that day, I have strived to continually grow my faith in my Savior Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven. The Church truly has been restored on the Earth again by the Prophet Joseph Smith. This is the same church that Jesus Christ established when He was on the Earth. It is truly His church. The Book of Mormon is true, and contains the fulness of the Gospel. Anyone can have the same experience that I did as they take the time to read and sincerely ask God for an answer.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am serving a misison in the Texas McAllen mission. I have the incredible blessing of going out each and every day to help others in this area know that God has restored the true church on the Earth again with prophets and apostles just like in times of old. I have also served in various Quorum's and Presidencies, which have helped me grow and become the type of man that God wants me to become. It is our responsibility to help our brothers and sisters who are lost to find the truth and happiness that come from the Gospel, and right now, that is the sacred calling I have 24/7.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Skyler
The way that I have seen in my own life to increase faith in Jesus Christ is to live His teachings and follow His example. These are all acts of faith on our part. As we live His teachings, like keeping the commandments, we receive blessings from Heaven. We also see the importance of His teachings as we apply them in our lives. The second is to follow His example. Christ was perfect, and obviously we are not. But we can try to obtain those same attributes He has, like charity, humility, and obedience. Through doing these things, we will see our faith begin to grow as a little seed planted in solid ground. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Skyler
Just as Christ taught when he was on the Earth, misisonary work is so esential!! If we truly belive that we are all sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven, then we realize that we have brothers and sisters who need us to help them. Missionaries have the sacred calling and responsibility to help in this work, to make sure that every nation, kindred, and people have the opportunity to receive the Gospel. The biggest reason why I decided to serve a mission was because I saw the effect that not only the Gospel, but the Atonement of Jesus Christ had in my life, and I wanted other people to be able to have that. It's an experience unlike any other to see the Atonement absolutley change someone's life for the better. Show more Show less
