Hi I'm Rachelle.

I'm an Oregonian. I'm a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm twenty years old and I work at the second happiest place, Build-A-Bear Workshop! In the fall, I'll start my first year of teaching chillins and I could not be any more excited about that! My interests are elephants, Harry Potter, and going to the gym... I'm a bit all over the place:)

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before I was even born. Some sister missionaries came to their door right at a time in my mom's life that she felt like something was missing. She had had many great examples of Mormons growing up, and can recall them just being so happy and secure in themselves, and she wanted a piece of that. It didn't take long for my mom to accept this as the true Church of Jesus Christ, but she had to wait a bit before my dad had studied the gospel enough to know that the teachings of the church were true. Together, they got baptized almost thirty years ago. I am incredibly grateful for the sister missionaries who brought the gospel into their lives and for the faithful members of the church who surrounded my mother and prepared her to accept its truthfulness. I have grown up a member of this church and have come to know of a surety that this is the true, restored Gospel of Christ. The Holy Ghost has confirmed to me that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of Christ and that he was God's vessel here on the earth. I know that Heavenly Father loves his earthly children enough to appoint a leader in these wayward times, and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God, just as Joseph Smith was. I have read the Book of Mormon several times, and I know that these are stories of actual beings and that the book was brought to this earth, at this time, so that I may gain knowledge from it and that it can help me find the path of righteousness. Christ did, in fact, walk this earth and He made the incredible sacrifice of giving His life, that I might live again one day. He is the Savior of the world and I strive to live my own life in a way that shows my love and appreciation for what He has done for me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person that I can be, so that I may return to my Heavenly Father. That means, I pray to Him, read the word of God, pay tithes, look for ways to serve others (I need to do this more though!), and just try to be Christ-like in all that I do. I am human, so I am very very very far from perfect, but I am striving to better myself and live my life in a way that would please my Heavenly Father. I serve in the presidency of the women's organization at my church and I love that it gives me the chance to help others. Sure church can be time consuming, but when I consider all that Christ has done for me and the love Heavenly Father has for every single person, how can I not sacrifice a bit of time?
