Hi I'm Brooke

I love the world with all of its variety. I love hiking, nature and my home state of Alaska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, which is where I first developed my love for the wild. The world and its people fascinate me. When I was sixteen I was a Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Taipei, Taiwan. This experience showed me the beauties each culture possess. Because of my love for nature and different cultures I decided to work towards a degree in Social Science Teaching. I chose teaching because I feel like that is my calling in life. When I am able to help others learn, I feel fulfilled. Right now I am serving an LDS mission in Taiwan and am able to teach people eternal truths every day--I love it soo much!!!! God is shaping my life and I am loving every moment!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both converts to this Church, meaning my parents were not born into Mormon families. My father was baptized at age 19, my mother at age 11. My parents dedication and sacrifice has provided me with an environment of love and faith. But I had to decide for myself as well. I remember very distinctly the moment my faith became my own. I was around 12 years old. I had low self-esteem and had a hard time believing God could really love me--or even know who I was. As I had been taught since practically birth, when you have a question, you ask God through prayer. I knelt down in my room, and prayed something like this, "God, do you really exist? Am I really your daughter? Do you love me?" Before I had even finished my prayer a feeling of warmth and love flowed into my soul. I felt embraced in the arms of God and I knew--and have never denied.

How I live my faith

I live my life as close as I can to how Jesus lived His. Through I am imperfect, I strive daily to turn my many weaknesses into strengths. I "believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men" (12th Article of Faith). Sometimes I make mistakes, but when I do, I know I can rely on Christ's Atonement to change. I also live my faith by taking care of my body--a precious gift from God. I don't drink coffee, tea or alcohol. I exercise daily, eat meet sparingly, and am saving myself for an eternal marriage. I have found such joy and peace from following God's path in this life.
