Hi I'm Joan Oldham

I joined the Mormon church when I was 16 years old. It was the best decision that I ever made.

About Me

I am a Human Resources Manger for a Pharmaceutical Marketing Company. My husband and I are married for 29 years this year. We have a 16 year old son. Living in NJ my whole life I can't imagine living anywere else. I love the beach, going on vacation (Disney World is our favorite) and reading. I am the youngest of 6 children and all of my brothers and sisters that are still alive live within an hour of each other. My husband is one of seven and five of his brothers and sisters live within an hour of us too. Our family get togethers are so much fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon becuase it just maks sense to me. Living the gospel and beliving in Christ and knowing what he did for me personally to give us repentance is what gets me through my day. Knowing that I will be with my family again in an afterlife and being able to be all together is the most important part of my beliefs. Knowing that the people aren't perfect and realizing that we all can forgive and be forgiven makes me feel like there is hope and promise for the future. Seeing the big picute of the time here on earth is so short compared to an eternity and making the right choices to be able to live that eternity with loved ones and in peace.

How I live my faith

Every day is a new day. Praying and asking for help to get through the day and then at night to thank God for helping me through out the day. I currently work with the young women in our church. Our youth program has the young men and women ages 12-18 participate in spiritual and fun activities. This gives them a chance to learn about the gospel, be with people who share their same values and morals and learn life/home skills. Working with these girls and watching them grow, develop and gain their own testimony of the gospel is very rewarding. Our religion is based on love, love of Christ, love for each other and serving each other. I have never seen an organization that is so willing to give time, energy and friendship to ANYONE who needs it. Serrvice projects like helping to clean up after local and national disasters is brings me great joy. The MORMON church are always amongst the first to arrive in a crisis or situation that needs "helping hands".
