Hi I'm Savanah

I'm a law student, and a world traveler. I come from a divorced family. I love to play soccer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Anything I do, I do with passion! I love to learn and experience new ideas and places. I love using my experiences to help make the world a better place. I love law school because it helps me learn to lay out my arguments logically, and because my degree will help empower me to be a greater force for good by helping those in need. I have also been blessed to travel all over the world. very fortunate to see many parts of the world. I like to travel both to broaden my horizons and to help serve my fellow men. Traveling helps me gain new perspectives and see life from others' eyes. I also love to play soccer and work out. Being healthy is important to me and enables me to make the most out of the wonderful life I have been given. My other great love is architecture. My undergraduate degree was construction management. Yes, I was the only girl in all of my classes. I chose my major because I love buildings and wanted to learn how to build them. My family is the most important asset I have. I love them, and love to hang out with them, talk to them, cheer for them, laugh with them, and cry with them. There is nothing better than a happy loving home. I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

My life has been so incredibly blessed. However, I have faced difficult challenges. But I owe all of the blessings of my life to the knowledge I have of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, taught by His church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Because of the Plan of Salvation, we know who we are, where we came from, where we are going, how to get there, and we know how to be happy despite opposition. The Plan of Salvation teaches that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind can be saved and can live together in peace and happiness in eternal families forever, if we are obedient to God's laws. Jesus Christ suffered for the sins and the afflictions of the world. Life isn't always fair. Every person is subject to the turmoils of the world and sometimes to the hurtful choices of others. But the atonement makes life fair.Through the atonement, we can repent of our sins and become clean, and we can be blessed and enabled to heal from the pains that so often beset mortality. I am a child of a divorced family. The divorce destroyed my life and was so hard for me. But because of the Gospel, I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father, who is the King of the Universe, and I know that He loves ME, and cares about ME. Because He is my Heavely Father, I know He hears and answers my prayers. Because of the divorce, I was able to grow closer to my Heavenly Father. When I think of all the blessings the Gospel has given me, how could I not be a Mormon?

How I live my faith

Just do it. Everything I do, I do with passion, and so I live my Faith with passion too. I love the Gospel. I am not perfect. I have many struggles and trials. But thanks to the gospel of Jesus Christ, I can receive help. I can repent of my sins, and I can improve and do better. Living the Gospel is a blessing. It is not an onerous burden, but an opportunity to be truly happy. The gospel makes logical sense. God gives us commandments because he loves us and wants us to be happy. He sees the bigger picture, whereas so often we only see our immediate wants and desires. But many times those wants and desires are short-sighted. Many commandments, like the Word of Wisdom, are blessings because they keep us safe from things that will harm us. The blessing of the word of wisdom is that by not partaking of cigarettes, alcohol, or coffee, my body will be in better health. Another wonderful blessing is the blessing of the law of chastity. By keeping the law of chastity and living a virtuous life, I have greater confidence in myself, and I can live me life without regrets. The gospel teaches the Plan of Salvation which is also called the Plan of Happiness. Since God is our loving Heavenly Father, He has provided a way for us to be truly happy and return to live with him. That happiness can be found as we live His gospel. I like being happy, so the gospel is easy for me to live! And my life is wonderful and truly happy!

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Savanah
You betcha! I am a mormon woman, and I am serving a full time mission for my church. When I finish serving my mission, I go back and finish my last year of law school. Of course, we are treated with equality! Women hold many positions of influence in the church. When a female is young, she enters primary where she learns that she is a daughter of Heavenly Father who loves her and knows exactly who she is. She is taught that she can pray to Heavenly Father and that he hears and Answers her prayers. From a young age, she begins giving talks and learns to teach her peers. As a young woman, she will be given church responsibilities, asked to speak in front of the entire church congregation, and is continuously taught that she has a critical role in God's plan. As an adult, she is given more responsibilities and callings. She is respected and loved and reveared. Women do not recieve the priesthood and yet they are not denied any blessing that a man is given. Women are loved, revered and respected in the church. Likewise, men are loved and respected. Each individual is a child of God and thus has inherent divine attributes. We as a church try to help EVERY member, male or female, cultivate thier divine attributes and become the best person they can be. Show more Show less
