Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Mormon because of the Book of Mormon. I read it and prayed to know if it was true. I felt its truthfulness.

About Me

Sports and gardening are two of my favorite pastimes. I have always enjoyed being among the beauties of nature in the mountains, at the beach, and in national and state parks. Traveling and experiencing other cultures helps broaden my understanding of life. I lived for 2 1/2 years in old Mexico where I learned to love the people and to speak and communicate in Spanish. Learning of the struggles of individuals to discover and live by truth is inspiring. As a youth my personal quest was to discover the truth about the purpose of life. I am happily married and the father of eight. We enjoy eating out and participating in family gatherings and activities.

Why I am a Mormon

At age nineteen I studied the Book of Mormon in detail and through prayer gained a personal testimony of its truthfulness. It is a second witness with the Bible that Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God and the Redeemer of mankind. Its teachings have helped me find true happiness. The teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (The Mormons) help me live a happy, satisfying life, and gives me hope of achieving eternal happiness with my family.

How I live my faith

As a young man, I served a 2 1/2 year mission to Mexico to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After my mission I graduated from Brigham Young University and was hired to teach released-time Seminary to high school youth. I am happily married, and my wife and I have eight children. I was employed by the Church for a total of 37 years, twelve years teaching religion classes to high school and college age youth and 25 years developing teaching manuals to help parents and church teachers. After retirement my wife and I have served as senior missionaries in El Paso, Texas, in Guyana, South America, and in Nauvoo, Illinois, for a total of three and a half years. Before our years as senior missionaries, my wife and I served as volunteer teachers in our local church unit in youth, children and adult classes as well as in several leadership capacities. I also enjoyed coaching various youth basketball and baseball teams in our community. I authored a book, "Proof: How to Know the Book of Mormon Is True," available on amazon.com, showing internal proofs I've discovered which to me prove the Book of Mormon is of divine origin, and could not have been written by any man or group of men in the1800's.
