Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a medical student. I'm a wife and a mother. I live in New York City. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite things include eating interesting cheeses, learning German, exploring New York City, hosting foreign travelers, and watching my baby wave hello. I chose to attend medical school after I started a career in biomedical engineering and research. During that time I made two other big decisions - getting married and starting a family. I guess you could say I chose to do all the big things in life at the same time, but I'm glad I did. Simply put, my studies make me a more compassionate wife and mother, and my family makes my studies more meaningful.

Why I am a Mormon

I've discovered that this church allows me to best develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I've had so many experiences that, bit by bit, have helped me know that I'm in the right place. I know that when I am living my religion, I find I am able to overcome weaknesses and make better decisions. It requires constant improvement, but all with the goal of returning with my family to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Every week at church I teach one-, two-, and three-year-olds. Sometimes we have to sing "Thomas and Friends" a few times before I get to a lesson on Jesus Christ, prayer, the Holy Ghost, or reading the scriptures, but I love it. Teaching young children reminds me to focus on the pure and most important aspects of my religion. Why are we here on earth? To get bodies and learn. Where are we going? Back to our Heavenly Father to live with Him and our families. Who is the perfect example? Jesus Christ. How can we be happy? Keep the Commandments. Outside of church, I live my faith by studying scripture, praying daily, and listening to the words of modern-day prophets. One of the most important principles of my religion is focusing on the family. My husband and I also read the scriptures together and often have discussions focused on our faith. We hope to teach our daughter about our Savior Jesus Christ and his love for us.
