Hi I'm Braden Hodges

I grew up in the USA. I love music from around the world. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love life and I think everything goes better with background music.

Why I am a Mormon

I think because I am a normal person who gets pretty freaked out at the twists and turns in life. I am a member of the church because every time life has a twist, unexpected trial, or thinks that I just cannot cope with I turn to god--specifically through the book of mormon--and I receive what I need. No, its not easy. Yes, I am still working on my conversion. However I am so blessed to be led by the Holy Ghost through the feelings in my heart.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in Taiwan. I have never found quite the same joy as I have teaching my eternal friends about how they can be happier, or helping them come to know who they are. That is what you do as a Missionary for this church. Its not about anything but making these long lost pals smile, and if they try their best they will learn about how to have a happiness that is indescribable. There are so many cool things that you can do to live your faith and it starts with just living in the way god wants us to. God doesn't want us to live differently so that we are weird, he wants us to live differently so we are happier. I live my faith by literally starting by living it! Trusting that everything god wants me to do is correct. I live my faith by receiving the peace that never leaves my heart as I do what I know is right. I can keep this peace by fixing what I do wrong. I live this by admitting that everyday I need god and I need the savior. Everyday there are bumps--some days are worse than others--and I need to admit that I can't do it on my own and try my best the next day. Life is some darn good stuff and the best way to really live it is by living the way god wants us to.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Braden Hodges
The purpose of life is to experience joy, grow up, learn about yourself, make mistakes, find peace and happiness, help your fellowman, love. Through this church you get to do all of these things, and you get to experience more joy than you can ever really imagine. This life is about learning. God gave Jesus, a perfect example, to make learning easier. He also came down here so that we could make mistakes and turn them into learning experiences. The ultimate goal of this life is to end up with our father in heaven. And we can do that through this church. God wants us all to have peace and happiness in this life, he wants us to learn and grow, he wants us to love our neighbors, he wants us to follow his son. He wants this for us so that we can live with him again. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Braden Hodges
Faith is hope. Having served a mission in Taiwan for two years there is quite a few times in which I am asked this question. I have struggled to find out for myself what it really is. I feel like being around the church I hear a lot of people say "I know that this is true" through their own feelings and before I would be really critical and jealous thinking, "how do you know?" What was so special about them that they could know things that I don't? Something I just couldn't grasp is when people would keep telling me all that they 'knew'. Why couldn't I know? Later finding out that faith is truly just a belief. Moreover a hope for things not seen. Yeah, the Mormons talk about lots of different things but why? It isn't because we choose to be different. It is because we have faith in things unseen. We have faith in a living prophet because think about it! How great is that? We have faith in eternal life because THINK ABOUT IT. How great does that sound? And through that faith and expressing it we obtain experience. Things that change us. Why do we have faith in Jesus Christ? THINK ABOUT IT, why not hold onto that hope? The blessings promised in this church are overflowing. Faith is the hope that these things are true. Faith is sometimes all that people have. Its a thought, a feeling, a desire, a goal, a positive way of living. Faith in these things is the expression that we truly with all our heart might mind and strength want to live with god again.
