Hi I'm Maddie!

I'm from Massachusetts, I love being with the people that I love, and I'm a Mormon! I know it, I live it, and I love it.

About Me

I am currently attending college and studying to become a history teacher. I love learning new things, and with history, I can always be learning! I have visited many places in the country and have found something to love in each place I've been to. I love to read. When I read, I feel like I belong to the book and that I'm in a whole new world with mystical creatures and fantasies. My favorite book is (and always will be) the Book of Mormon though, written by true prophets of God and written about real people. It's like reading an action filled history book that can also bring the spirit into my life. I have recently took up the hobby of cooking as well. I cook for all of my roommates in my spare time. I like to test out my food on them, and they all appreciate it so much! My favorite is baking. I bake cookies, cakes, pasteries, breads, and so much more! Creating new things is what brings me joy. It gives me purpose to my life. Because I just love eating things so much, to stay healthy I go exercising as much as I can. Running gives me freedom in this chaotic world. I can go where I want to run at my own pace. Exercising and eating right is important to me because I need to keep my body healthy and clean because it's my spirit's temple.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be Mormon for many reasons. I know, without a shadow of a doubt that this is the true church. I have felt the spirit many time confirming it is so. When I read the scriptures and listen to the living prophets of our day speak, I feel the spirit touch and soften my heart. I feel peace and pure joy when I have the spirit with me. The world so often tries to tear us down and make us feel as though we are not good enough. Yes there are times we can create joy in our lives by ourselves, but how long does that really last? Not long enough. The spirit and the gospel are the only things that bring us pure joy and happiness that can last forever. Sometimes because of the world, it feels like I'm looking thorugh a straw at my whole life. This gospel helps me to see my life without the small straw hole. I understand why I am here, where I came from, what I need to do in this life, and what will happen after this is life past. I know that Christ lives and that He loves me. I have such a strong testimony of this that I can never deny it. Christ loves me so much that he gave His life for me. He suffered and bled and died for me. Because of Christ, I can become ressurected and live again. I know that it is only because of Christ that I can become pure and return to my heavenly Father. The only way I feel to repay a small portion of the large amount that I owe Him is to love my fellow brothers and sisters here on earth. God shows His love to me everyday through His tender mercies. Christ is the mediator between God and I, who will plead for my case as long as I follow the commandments. God has asked me to do so little for Him, and I can keep my life pure and clean to honor Him and show that I am thankful for all that he has done for me and all that He will yet do for me. I love my God, I love my Savior, I'm thankful for the prophets we have on this earth today and I'm thankful for the wonderful blessings God has given me here on earth.

How I live my faith

Every sunday I go to church for three hours. During the first hour I partake of the sacrament which helps clean my body, remember Christ, and keep the Holy Spirit with me. Then I go to sunday school class and learn about the gospel and all its principals and how it all pertains to me as an individual. And then for the last hour of church I go to another lesson taught only to the women (there are seperate classes for the men, the youth and the children too). In this class I usually learn about my divine nature and the potential I have as a daughter of God. Every sunday I feel the spirit, it's like recharging my battery for the week ahead. It helps me remember why I really am here and it helps me focus on what is really important in life (which doesn't include shoes, clothes, electronics, cars, and body shape. It's shocking I know but true). I try and read my scriptures every night. No one in this world is perfect, and neither am I, and so yes I do miss days of reading my scriptures, BUT I never go a day without praying to my heavenly Father. He has done so much for me, I can never ignore or neglect Him. I always try to have a prayer in my heart towards Him (meaning I always try to remember Him and always be thankful for what He has blessed me with). The scriptures are like my friends, who always tell the truth and who can make me feel safe, happy and content even while living in this natural world. I feel as though one of the only ways I can show my God that I am thankful for all He does for me is to love my brothers and sisters here on earth. I try to serve others as much as I can. I try to be the light of Christ that others see in their lives. My goal is to try and help them be able to return to Heavenly Father and live with Him again.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

NO! We love helping everyone. EVERYONE is a precious child of God. We love service and making people feel welcome and loved. Our job is to make sure that everyone is safe, cared for and loved. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Some people believe that there is nothing else after this life. They believe they live for this life, die, and that there is no purpose. That is not true. Our time here on earth is but a fraction of the time we will live. Our purpose here on earth is to prepare us for eternal life. When we die, we will be resurrected and we will have the opportunity to live with God again, forever. Only if we follow his commandments, try our hardest, and live righteously. Those who willingly disobey the Lord will receive a reward according to what they have done in this life, but they will not have the glory of living in the presence of God. It is hard to imagine living forever. When I think about it too hard, I get a headache. That is because we are in a mortal body and the veil is not yet lifted from us, so we cannot see all that there is and we do not know all that there is. But we can have faith and hope that this life is not the only time we will experience. There is eons of time that we will be able to experience with our friends and family. And I'm so thankful for that knowledge. Show more Show less
