Hi I'm Ashton

I'm an Iowan. I love cats. I am a dance instructor and baker. I am serving a full-time mission in NV. I am a mormon missionary.

About Me

I love dance and theatre. They are my passion. I used to teach 18 months to 18 year-old's how to dance. I also worked full time as a baker in a restaurant. Desserts is my other passion! One thing I rather enjoy is finding sweet deals at thrift stores. clothes I get there make up over 50% of my wardrobe. My four little sisters (6,8,10, and 14) and I enjoy having nail painting parties and playing dress up with my wardrobe. Also, My cat Chester is the cutest guy around. Now to mention the present, I am currently serving an 18 month full time mission for the church. Compared to all the things I love to do, this has to be my favorite. Service is what brings the most joy to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember a meeting I attended when I was ten years old. President Gordon B. Hinckley was speaking (Prophet of our church until 2008) about the pioneers. That meeting is the first time I recall really feeling the spirit. I remember after the meeting telling my father "I feel really warm and happy inside" he explained to me it was the Holy Ghost letting me know the things spoken in that meeting were true. Growing up in the church, I have continually felt that warm, happy feeling. It created my testimony. It is the reason I love the church and its teachings so much. I feel a joy and love from my Heavenly Father that I have never felt anywhere else. I feel it when i pray, I feel it when I go to church, I feel it when I read my scriptures. That love is the love my Savior, Jesus Christ, has for me as an individual. I know without a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I know that through the direction of God, and Jesus Christ, that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I believe in modern day Prophets and revelation. Most of all, I have a firm testimony that the Atoning power of Jesus Christ can heal all. I love this Church, and the strength and hope it gives me everyday.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith through service. I'm not perfect. Yet I strive to keep a smile on my face and look for small ways to make others day a little brighter. I also live the standards given in "For the Strength of Youth." https://www.lds.org/youth/for-the-strength-of-youth?lang=eng While doing these things I am often asked why I am the way I am. The answer is my relationship with a loving Father in Heaven. And because being a Mormon is more than a religion, it is finding personal growth through Christ. It is a lifestyle choice. A lifestyle I love.
