Hi I'm Laurel Smith

I am a designer, I am obsessed with my family, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from the beautiful green and luscious state of Washington, but am going to school in Eastern Idaho studying to be a graphic designer. I love to be outside, whether it is wet and rainy (hence Washington) or bright and sunny. That’s probably when I feel God the most, out in his pure creations away from worldly things; He is the grand designer of it all. I am best friends with my family and honestly, if I am not at school or work, I am hanging out with them. I know that through the priesthood authority of God that was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, my family can be together forever, after this life. That one principle makes me happier than anything else in this life can.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is true. Why else? It is not easy to follow Christ and would be a waste if I didn’t know with a surety that this was really Christ true and living church, being led by a prophet today. I know it is true from how happy it has made me as I have come to know my Savior more and more from studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Every time I read from the book of Mormon, I feel such peace in my heart and in my mind and know that it is true. Honestly, the gospel just makes sense. It answers every question and solves every concern. There is no doubt in my mind that my Heavenly Father loves me, that His Son Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that this is the only way to find lasting happiness in this life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be more like my Father in Heaven every day. Boy is it tough, but I know it is right. I recently returned home from serving a full-time mission for 18 months at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah (where people came to visit from all around the world) and Tallahassee, Florida. I took a break from school to teach people for those 18 months, how they could come closer to their Savior. I figured that if it made me this happy, why wouldn’t I want to share that with everyone? Now that I am back at school, I try to do what I can to share what I am continually learning with the people around me.
