Hi I'm Patrice Garner

I grew up in Washington. I'm a family girl, runner, cosmetologist, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Patrice and I am 21 years old. The most important thing in my life is my family :). I am the youngest of 7. I have 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 4 sister in laws, and 2 brother in laws. I have 21 nieces and nephews! I love to run. I've done one half marathon and a bunch of races, and I'm planning on doing a marathon very soon! I am a cosmetologist and love doing hair and I'm on a mission right now for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, but just like anyone I had to gain my own testimony. I remember coming home from girls camp where testimonies were shared. I wanted to have that powerful experience about the Book of Mormon that everyone had been talking about. That testimony of the Gospel and that conviction of knowing that it was true. That night I remember praying so hard to have a cool story like the people that I heard. I prayed and prayed, then I read and read from the Book of Mormon. Then I prayed one last time. It was as clear as day,"you already know it's true, what are you expecting?" "You've had that 'powerful experience' your whole life".I remember that night so vividly. I did know it was true. I didn't need to have a 'cool story', I had my story and it was cool! I am a daughter of Heavenly Father and I have been born to good parents who have taught me my whole life the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have had answers to prayers and miracles happen every day. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He restored the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints back on the earth. The church Christ established when He was on the earth. That same authority, the priesthood authority that Christ had and used to baptize and heal is on the earth again. I know that only through our Savior Jesus Christ can we live with our Father in Heaven. I know who I am and I know God's plan, and I'm trying to follow in His way.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ has always been apart of my life. It brings me so much joy.Which is why I'm serving a mission! I have been so blessed to have it in my life and I want to be able to share it with others so that they can feel the same joy that comes from living the gospel. Growing up my family went to church every Sunday, prayed as a family and read scriptures together every morning, I went to primary, young women's, mutual (activity for youth in your area during the week), girls camp, seminary and other ward and stake activities. All these things helped me to learn and grow and see the importance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for leaders and examples that I've been able to have throughout my life who have organized these different activities. They have helped me to learn and become who I am today. In the church we have opportunities to serve and help one another. I've been able to teach primary, young women's, be a pianist, organize activities, do community service and so much more. You are a family and everyone loves each other.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Patrice Garner
God has called prophets to lead His Church in our day, just as He did anciently. The current prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Thomas S. Monson. He is assisted by two counselors—Henry B. Eyring and Dieter F. Uctdorf. Together, they make up the First Presidency of the Church (much like Peter, James, and John after Christ’s death).
