Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon. I joined the Church in 1974 in upstate New York when I was 20 years old. It has been a marvelous adventure!

About Me

My wife and I are parents of 5 children, 3 in college and 2 in high school. My wife is a school librarian and I teach high school. We moved to Texas from South Carolina last August. As a family, we like to travel, visit museums, historical sites, and other points of interest. We like to have fun meals and watch movies on weekend nights. I like to read, play basketball, and run to stay in shape. I also watch college sports and attend BYU games whenever possible. In the past, I have worked for the Federal Government and for several companies that make parts for cars. I am a substitute teacher in a local school district and hope to teach engineering classes in a high school in the same district.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church through baptism in 1974 when I learned through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. When the Spirit bore this witness to me, I felt a strong desire to join the Church and live by God's teachings. I had been religious before, but the lights really came on when I discovered that the Book of Mormon is indeed another witness of Jesus Christ. From 1975 to 1977, I served the Lord as a full time missionary in California teaching Spanish-speaking people. Since then, I have graduated from college, been married (for 24 years now!) and worked in various careers. My wife and I were married in the Washington Temple and have been to the Temples many times since then. Every time we go to the Temple, attend regular Church meetings, study the scriptures, or pray, our testimonies have been strengthened. All of our children are active in the Church and all have attended early-morning seminary. Our oldest son served a mission in Fiji and was married in the Palmyra, New York temple last summer. I hope you decide for yourself to ask the Lord to tell you about the Book of Mormon and His restored Church. If you desire it sincerely and are willing to follow God's counsel, he will tell you as he has told me and millions of other people who are now members of the Church.

How I live my faith

As an individual and as a family, we pray daily, study the scriptures daily, and attend our Church meetings. We follow the President of the Church whom we believe is a Prophet chosen by God. He represents the Savior to the Church and to all of the people of the Earth. After all, we are each a child of God. I have served as a missionary, teacher, youth leader, and Bishop in the Church. I have found that the Savior helps us do his will and blesses us greatly as we follow him and try our best to help each other. I know that true peace and happiness come through obeying God's commandments. Life is good but it is often hard. Obeying the commandments ensures that I stay in the path the Lord wants me to follow, thus providing peace in these troubled times.
