Hi I'm JoEllen

I am deaf, an athlete, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! I am JoEllen but I go by Ellie. I am from the amazing state of Tennessee and I am currently a college student. I love to learn! I am not sure whether people would classify me as a convert or not, I would just consider myself a late-bloomer simply because I was raised both LDS and Baptist. Complicated story but I will make it short; my father is Baptist and my mom is LDS but she is inactive although she believes in the gospel and knows it is true. I love sports! All kinds! However, 4-wheeling, softball, and basketball are my main interests. I am also a farm girl! Well if you want to call it a farm.... just a lot of hay and during the summer we grow a little bit of crop such as corn, tomatoes, and beans. It is hard work but I enjoy it. I am deaf and know ASL, being deaf has given me an interesting outlook on life and has taught me to try my best to look for the positive in everything. I am also currently preparing to be a sister missionary and I am looking forward to my mission. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the church has changed my life! Growing up I struggled with depression and I still do to this day. But the church, the Savior, the Holy Ghost, and Heavenly Father all bring true happiness into my life. And because of the true happiness it brings in my life I am able to show love and support to those that I come across in my life. Plus, it is an amazing feeling to know that eventually I will be able to be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I am currently a Young Womens Adviser and let me tell ya, it is a wonderful experience. Young Womens is a organization within our church that works with young women ages 12-18. I love working with the young women and teaching them the things that they need to know such as doctrines in the gospel and the atonement. I also work with the sister missionaries constantly and that takes up a lot of my time. I go out with them and help them teach people about the gospel. It brightens up my day and helps me to feel the Spirit much more in my life.

What is the Law of Chastity?

JoEllen
Aside from what the church says I would like to add my own point. Our bodies are to be keep clean because when you are clean you don;t feel the guilt that a lot of people feel when they break the law of chastity. Which brings the happiness, safety, peace, and self-respect that the church talks of. I like to view it as this way the more things you do with a man or woman the more pieces you give away and when it comes time for you to become a spouse of the one that you truly love you will want to give them ALL of you. But when you disobey the law of chastity you won't be able to give them everything sacred. Show more Show less
