Hi I'm Chelsey

I've been a member of the church since 2009 and can't see myself anywhere else.

About Me

I consider myself a nerd. I love video games and comics and board games. I also love to crochet and scrapbook. I'm a mother of 2 wonderful kids and happily married to a wonderful man. I'm the only member in my family. Music is a huge part of my life. I love to sing and often use it for worship whenever I can. I am also collecting music from around the world. It's fun to hear some of today's music from another country, it may sound similar, but they always add just a bit of their own culture to it.

Why I am a Mormon

I spent a number of years attending religious services of every kind. When my daughter was about 2 weeks old, I was up with her one night and turned on the tv to keep me awake. An add for the church's website came up telling about a chat feature it had. I figured it couldn't hurt to look, the only things I knew about the church were wrong (I had the amish in mind). I thought it sounded interesting, so I called up the local missionaries and asked them to come out. Needless to say, they were a little hocked that someone actually contacted them. They gave me a book of mormon and some passages to look over. I started with those, then found myself reading all over the place. When the missionaries came back they gave me a lesson and told how I could pray to know if the book really was true. That night, I knelt down to pray and knew immediately before I even said a word what the answer to my question was. The first time I went to church, I had all my doubts thrown out. Walking through those doors, there was a spirit there stronger than I had ever felt. I had found my family. I was home.

How I live my faith

I am a secretary for the primary(children's classes) and love it. I was the music leader in there for awhile, which was a ton of fun, but now I get to be behind the scenes. I am also a visiting teacher and am blessed with a wonderful companion and 3 wonderful women we teach. I am very active in events the church has and love to help out when I can, although having two small children can make that difficult at times.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. Joseph Smith is just like what Moses was to the people of the old testament. He was a prophet, called of God to restore His church here on earth. Our prophet, while not worshipped, is still an important part of our faith. He helps guide us and teach us how stay on the path towards eternity with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
