Hi I'm Trulie

I'm a Grad Student (M.Ed.). I'm a sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. I love life and all the people around me. Life is good.

About Me

I'm a bit of a "jack of all trades"...or the female version of that. Is there a female version? I love learning and trying new things. Which is part of the reason I'm now pursuing a Masters in Education and plan on teaching elementary school. I hope to inspire my students to love learning and continue to learn their whole lives. Before returning to school and changing careers, I've worked in HR for a mining company and have worked in online marketing as a SEO/Local Search expert for the last 5 years. But before all that, I got a BS in Geography: Travel & Tourism Studies. I was born & raised in Northern California, but have only lived there for about 5 years of my adult life. The rest of my life so far has been spent in Utah (Provo & Salt Lake), Brazil (Bahia), and now Las Vegas, Nevada. Maybe someday I'll venture out and try living in the South or Midwest or East...or abroad again. I speak Portuguese fluently, and get by with Spanish. I enjoy learning new languages and hope to learn ASL soon too. Above all else, I love my family! They're quirky and kind and amazing. I have been blessed to have come to the family I have. My siblings and I are starting to spread out, but we're still really close. Nothing is better than spending time with them!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it is true. I have learned that for myself. As I live the Gospel and study and ponder the Teachings of our Savior, I can feel the truthfulness of it in my mind and in my heart. I don't understand everything, but the more I learn about the Gospel, the more I am assured of it's truth. I find this is especially true for me when I read the Book of Mormon. It changes my life every time and each time I can feel the truth resonating in the words and spirit of the book. This Gospel brings light and happiness into my life. I would be lost without it. It is an essential part of who I am.

How I live my faith

I have learned that serving others and my Heavenly Father are an essential part of what brings happiness and purpose into my life. I believe we are here to serve and help one another (and to let people serve us too!). It can be as simple as leaving a flower on a doorstep or sending someone a text to say you're thinking of them. It will all bless the lives of those around us, but it will also bless us as we do so.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

When I look at the creations of this world, especially when I am out in nature, I can't fathom how there couldn't be a God. I believe He is real and He is more involved in our lives than we realize. Show more Show less
