Hi I'm Haleigh

I am a California girl. I teach English to English language learners. I love cooking (and especially eating). I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a girl who loves being active and getting outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, yoga and bike riding are some of my favorites. My husband I live in a one bedroom apartment that I love to redecorate every time I need a change of scenery. We are adventurous eaters and love trying new foods and restaurants in our area. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in English and got my teaching credential. I love working with students and helping them achieve their goals and sharing in their successes.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ my whole life, but our family's church-going experience was never perfect. I grew up realizing that despite some of the choices others in my family were making, I wanted and needed the church in my life. I experimented with the teachings of the church that I was taught and found them to be true. I discovered that living the what the church teaches makes me truly happy and gives me a perspective that offers hope, even in the most heartbreaking trials of life.

How I live my faith

I recently taught the 5-7 year old children in our church Sunday school. I had so much fun teaching them about our faith and seeing life through their eyes. Currently I work with the older girls in the church, ages 12-17. We are preparing to go to "Girls Camp" over the summer, which is a blast for all the girls who attend. They camp, hike, do crafts, sing songs, and strengthen personal testimonies of the church. I've attended camp as a young woman, but it will be fun for me to be an adult and help the girls have as much fun as I did. I also have other assignments in the church such as visiting women in the area monthly (at least I try to!), sharing an uplifting message with them, seeing how they are doing, and doing my best to fill any needs they may have. Occasionally I am asked to use my musical abilities in church and play piano or sing for various church meetings.
