Hi I'm Josh Wallace

I’m a musician. I’m a husband. I’m a dreamer. I’m adopted. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Aloha! My names Josh and I’m from Southern California. I’m the youngest of two brothers. I’m currently attending a graduate school getting my Masters degree in Spain. I’m a drummer / percussionist, but I also enjoy singing and playing other instruments as well as writing original songs and compositions. Recently I was married and sealed to my best friend earlier in 2017. I like to laugh and apparently I’ve been told that you could hear my laugh from a mile away. I love the beach, the ocean, traveling, cultures, music, brownies, noodles, and of course the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesús Christ of Latter-day Saints is such a wonderful church that helps me understand more about who I am as a child of God, what this life is really all about, and what choices I can make in order to find the most peace and joy in this life and in the life to come. The Church is centered on the idea that families are meant to be an eternal relationship (which makes sense since God has asked us to call him Father). Till death do you part doesn’t exist in the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, rather if we choose to follow Him and keep His commandments, we will be able to live with our family forever. I can think of no greater thing to ask for than being with the ones that I love forever. Another reason why I am a Mormon has to do with a book called The Book of Mormon. This book is such a beautiful gift that we have here on the earth. Like the Holy Bible, it is another testament of the divinity, reality, and mission of our Savior Jesus Christ. The histories and testimonies both within the book and about the books coming forth and legitimacy has greatly impacted my life. When I read the Book of Mormon along with the Holy Bible, I feel deeper love from my Father in Heaven and His Son, and I understand more fully Christ’s Atonement for me and for everyone. This life definitely has lots of bad going on everywhere we look, but I’m telling you, this Gospel, this book, this family of imperfect people striving to be saints has a lot of good, a lot of love, and a lot of beautiful real things that I feel everyone and anyone can take advantage of. I know these things are true and I’m so grateful for all of the blessings I receive in this life.

How I live my faith

My faith is something that I hold really close to my heart, and I consider it a major identifying characteristic about myself. I love my faith daily in a number of different ways. I’ve done big things to show my devotion and commitment to God like serving as a full-time missionary in Paris France for two years, but the seemingly small things I choose to do every day have a huge impact on my life. Some of the things that I do include daily prayer, scripture study (even if it’s one or two verses), attending church meeting, and volunteering to teach a Sunday school class. One of the biggest blessings that I find with living the Gospel is the unity in knowing that there are millions that live the same standards that I do all around the world. My wife and I, in the short span that we’ve been married, have lived in three different communities that have covered half the globe. Each time we travel to a new city, one of the first things that we do is we look up online where the nearest LDS church is located and when their meeting times are. We have been amazed to see that no matter how far away we are from home, the church is always the same and the members who attend are all so generous, welcoming, and loving. Music of course plays a huge role in how I live my faith. Some of the most impactful spiritual experiences that I’ve had in my life almost always have involved music. The Lord has said that “the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me.” This phrase has caused me to really listen to music searching for the underlining message that it has. There is a lot of Music that I consider holy in the sense that maybe the rhythm and the instrumentation isn’t the most reverent, but the message and the power behind the song has a special quality that can lift, inspire, heal, and comfort any soul. From church hymns that I sing each Sunday to the most contemporary of genres, music has touched my soul and has helped me feel God’s love in my life.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Josh Wallace
Growing up in the church I would go to Primary as a little boy, and in Primary we would sing a song that went like this: Whenever I hear the song of a bird, or look at the blue, blue sky Whenever I feel the rain on my face, or the wind as it rushes by Whenever I touch a velvet rose, or walk by a lilac tree I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world Heavenly Father created for me. This song is true to me. Whenever I look up at the countless numbers of stars at night, or when I see a sunrise or sunset, when I'm with my family and we're all smiling and happy, when I hear sweet, sweet music, when I look at the wonderful creations this Earth has, that is evidence to me that there is a God and that He loves us His children. No man, or accident could have possibly made everything we know today. It simply cannot be that. It has to be someone with great knowledge and power who has made everything . I know for a fact that there is a God, who is our Heavenly Father, the Father of our spirits. I also know that this God, our Heavenly Father, loves us so very much. More that we could imagine. I know this to be true because I've felt of His love for me. Show more Show less
