Hi I'm Jessica

I am a missionary, I grew up in a family with eight kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jessica. I grew up in a big family with 3 older brothers and 2 older sisters, with a little sister and a little brother. I love big families even with all the chaos and being late to everything that comes along with it. I love always having a little kid around to play with. Right now I am a missionary serving for a year and a half in the Maryland Baltimore Mission spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I loving every second of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the church because it makes me happy. After reading the Book of Mormon and living my life following the commandments I have come to realize my life is happier when I am following Jesus Christ. It brings joy and a sense of peace that I could never get any place else. I have seen family members lives that have changed drastically because of not living the standards of the church, and I have come to know that is what I don't want in my life. I also know that we can be forgiven of our mistakes and that by applying the Atonement of Jesus Christ and doing our best to live righteously we can be made clean again. I know that true happiness comes from following the gospel. I know that the Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and that a man can get nearer to God by living the teachings found in it. I know that if the Book of Mormon is true that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that there is a prophet today. I have such a gratitude for my Savior Jesus Christ. As I continue in study and prayer I feel like I can come closer to Him all the time.

How I live my faith

I live my faith right now by being a missionary. I spend all day every day focused on service and doing those things Jesus Christ would do if He were here. I love being able to spread the gospel through unique ways that I couldn't do before. I worked with the children before I came on my mission and came to realize that little children understand more about the gospel then I would have realized in the beginning. I love the little children and how much they can teach all of us.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

God needs men to have a responsibility in this life and that is to provide and preside over their families and God gave them help through the priesthood to help lead and guide the family unit. Men and women have different roles in life. It has been that way since time began. We weren't meant to be the same, it takes away from our identity and our eternal purpose. I know that I have a different role in this life than men. I know that I am supposed to be a mother and a nurturer for those children that God has put on this earth. It doesn't mean that we have to cook and clean and stay at home all day. We have skills and attributes that we need to cultivate and continue in our learning and growth. It all comes down to knowing who we are and what our roles are, not in the worlds eyes but in Gods eyes. Show more Show less
