Hi I'm Mike Smith

I'm a college student, I love to climb on stuff, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Mike! I'm a big brother, college student, swimmer, singer, mascot, gymnast, outdoors-man, full time missionary, and I'm a Mormon! I come from a big family in Fort Worth Texas. I am the oldest of 5 and I love my family. I love making people laugh, staying active and learning new things. I will miss spending time with my family while I am in California sharing the gospel for 2 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy! I came to know this the same way any one comes to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God; by reading the Book of Mormon, and praying about it. I began to read the Book of Mormon on my own when I was 15 with the hope that I would come to know whether or not it was true. Each time before I would start reading, I would pray and ask to know if it was true. Eventually I got an answer, in a way that looking back seems kind of funny. One day as I read the books of Jarom and Omni, I thought to my self, "How could this be fake? If Joseph Smith was making this up, then why would he put something like the books of Jarom and Omni in it?" If you're not familiar with those books, they are two very short segments, which to me at that time, seemed to consist mostly of a series of men, who wrote on the gold plates after they were passed down to them. All of them write very little and some of them say that they are in fact wicked men and are just doing it because their fathers told them to. I related to these men. Many time my Dad made me write in my journal, and I started off by saying something like,"I'm only writing because my dad is making me." I understood perfectly where those men were coming from. I couldn't believe that anyone fabricating something such as the Book of Mormon, would put that much depth and thought into something that is so unimportant to the story. It was at that moment that the most peaceful feeling came over me. At that moment I knew the Book of Mormon was true. I received a witness from the Holy Ghost. I knew that Joseph Smith was called of God to be a prophet and restore the fullness of the gospel to the earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to share the happiness the gospel has brought me with others. I Know how much the living the gospel has blessed my life and I want others the have the same blessings and joy in their lives.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Mike Smith
Missionaries' job is to help others to come closer to Christ. When missionaries visit your home they will teach you about Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. They will invite you to act on the things they teach you. If you do these things, you will feel more peace and happiness in your life! Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mike Smith
Mormon women are my favorite! In the 13th article of faith, it states "if there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praisworty we seek after these things." I cant think of any better way to describe the women of the church of Jesus Christ of later day saints. They are wonderful, charitable, disciples of Christ! I cant wait to take one to the temple and be married to her forever! Show more Show less
