Hi I'm Jen

I am the parent of specials needs children. I work in education.I live in Indiana. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Massachusetts and moved around the Northeastern US before we finally settle in Southern Indiana when I was a teen. I'm the oldest of 8, played volleyball, basketball and softball all through school and into college. I have a degree in education- I started teaching History and Government but after I returned from my mission and got married, I ended up working with children with special needs. Our first three kids were born in California and our 4th came along after we had moved back to Indiana. Our oldest and youngest have autism spectrum disorders and our family speaks around the country at autism related conferences. The kids are all involved with school band and I love being an 'unofficial' band photographer! Most of all, I love spending time with my family doing whatever... so long as we are together!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts to the church so I grew up attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Eventually though, I had to figure out for myself what I believed. After reading and studying I prayed to know whether this was where I belonged. I felt in my heart that this was the Savior's church, restored to the earth through a modern day prophet. As I studied, I realized, the gospel made sense. It is full of the simple truths that will help us return to live with our Father in Heaven and His son, Jesus Christ. I love that the church is so service oriented and that it provides direction in a world that is quickly losing values and morals- which helps support us as we raise our children. I am grateful for my knowledge of the Plan of happiness that our Father in Heaven provides for us so that we can be forgiven of our mistakes in this life and have the opportunity to return to live with Him someday- with our families.

How I live my faith

I love the opportunities to serve that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints offers me daily. When I finished college, I served a mission in South Korea as well as among different refugee communities in northern Utah. I have had opportunities to teach in the children and youth organizations as well as in different adult organizations. I love the chance I have each month to visit members of our congregation and share the gospel. Our oldest son is currently serving a mission among the people in North Carolina.
